With the death Thursday of Prince Rogers Nelson, you may see a strange mix on your Facebook feed of sex and religion.
Thats because perhaps one of the raunchiest, steamiest pop culture figures in the past quarter-century was a conservative Christian. Religious and spiritual themes ran through a huge amount of his work, including this tiny sampling of lyrics:

What?
Prince has an ex-wife and a child! Are you really that clueless?
The bio I read today said Jehovah Witness.
He’s been married twice.
Sorry Wendle, Prince had TWO wives.
Second was Manuela Testolini.
He was married twice.
That and a horse user perhaps.
“That and a horse user perhaps.”
I don’t think that or any illicit drugs were involved. The one time I was at his after party, I did not see him drink.
be a Christian LIVE like a Christian....if you live like marriage doesn’t mean anything, and promiscuity doesn’t mean anything, and pandering to the lowest in moral behavior doesn’t mean anything, then Christianity doesn’t mean anything either...
Correct, not Christian.
He just died and likely through carelessness
Alone and probably afraid in a frigging elevator
It’s a bit early for his death to get the customary free republic lock in a sock beating
Let it rest a little
This article says he “turned to Jesus in 2001.”
Like most performers, he lead two lives. The life on stage and in his music and a personal life in which he was a Christian and gave lots of money to charities. He even Anonymously started and funded some organizations.
I’m older and only knew his music as an adult when it wasn’t as influential on me, but later became aware of what a talent he really was. In this tribute to George Harrison, it’s not easy to stand out amongst such a stageful of outstanding performers, but he does it in amazing style:

He marched to his own beat also, and lovers of freedom should always find a place in their heart for a bit of kindness instead of scorn. RIP.
“Really? I never heard that or saw him with any female.”
Then you obviously weren’t ever a fan. Prince was a horndog of the first order, and was well known for it.
He was also married twice.
As far as considering him a “nothing”, most popular music aficionados would tend to disagree with you on that. The guy sold hundreds of millions of records for a reason. He was a rare, first class talent.
When I worked in Chanhassen on the night shift, we dealt with his weirdo entourage (although, he may have been with them at the time, and I didn’t even realize it). I got the idea he was more new agey than anything Christian.
A great talent was Prince and relative to sexual proclivites he was straight. Click on the link below to see the women he dated and in all probability bedded. He was a lucky man was he.
