There are more candidates who support Trump (34) than there are who support Cruz. On top of that, 58 candidates say theyll support whoever wins the popular vote in their district which is likely to be Trump in most cases and another five say theyll support the statewide winner, which is also almost certain to be Trump. (There are 27 who are uncommitted.) That is to say, out of 125 candidates whove said how they plan to vote, nearly 80 percent of them are potential Trumpers, and unlike in previous state elections, Trumps getting some help from local pols in Pennsylvania in organizing.
There goes the “ground game” king......
Oh well
Too bad Ted Cruz can’t run a lemonade stand. He’ll have plenty of time on his hands to learn very soon.
I’m also getting phone calls and mail from uncommitted delegates who want me to vote for them.
No way. They’re either moles or wanting a bribe.
AzzPundit at HotAir must be about ready to go the hot bath and razorblades route after he wrote this.
This is good news
But...but I’ve been assured Cruz will win on the second ballot! How can this be true? I’m so upset! /s
Trump is right, the corrupt system IS rigged. Wouldn’t it be nice to have an honest election for a change?
Colorado was not a good thing for Ted.
I know people here will respond "But them's the rules" but I think it ludicrous that a state - any state - should have a primary that is deliberately confusing for the voters. That is, you can check off the presidential candidate of your choice but that vote is meaningless unless you also select the corresponding delegate pledged to support that candidate. And because the ballot will not list the presidential candidate that a delegate candidate is pledged to, you have to do some detective work before even getting to the booth.
The reason for the convoluted process can only be so that the party establishment can confuse the "rank and file" and thus have better control over what candidate their state delegation will support at the convention.
It's very dishonest.
Well, with Trump daily demonstrating that he is in no way a conservative Republican, we can hope that the delegates in PA will realize this and support an actual conservative, Ted Cruz!
Complete 3rd world disgrace.

Ha...the best laid plans of mice and men.
“Uh oh, somebody learned how to putt”
Rules are rules.
Cruz should get zero 0 delegates like CO & WY. lol.
Aside from the specific candidates this year, I think that many voters in this election season are finding out for the first time how convoluted the process really is - most for the first time. I know that I have been surprised several times at the machinations involved, and all of them appear designed to support the party over the people.
In PA, the primary and “loophole” votes are described as separate events, but occur on the same day. In the loophole elections, voters cast ballots for delegates who are not clearly identified on the ballot as to who they support. Only the commitments of the delegate candidates themselves link their convention votes to the voters’ expressed will once the delegates are selected.
PA may be a special case, but I for one find that the political process as currently constituted for the GOP appears to be a “party uber alles” operation.
