Big news from American Commitment President Phil Kerpen, whos been hard at work trying to figure out which way Pennsylvanias delegate candidates are leaning. Why is that important? Its not just that Pennsylvania will send 71, a large haul, to the convention. Its the fact that the state has a loophole primary where most of those 71 are unbound on the first ballot. Seventeen delegates will be awarded to the winner of the primary next week but the remaining 54 will be determined by elections held the same day and to make things extra confusing, the ballot wont show which presidential candidate each would-be delegate is supporting for nominee. If youre looking to vote for delegates who back Trump, youd better have done your homework before you go into the booth. ------------------------
How did Team Cruz fall down on the job here? Kerpen points to the fact that delegates had to announce their candidacy months ago, before February 16th, in order to land on next weeks ballot and Cruzs operation may simply not have been planning for a delegate battle at the time. Remember, Cruzs strategy initially was to beat Trump across the evangelical south and then settle into a long war with Marco Rubio, who looked to be the emerging establishment champion.

Looks like small ball is backfiring on Teddy. :-)
I am on the Trump Train and it is picking up momentum
But I think the Cruz Sex Scandal is nonsense noise at this point. Cruz did the most damage to himself by taking credit for voterless wins, I mean, really? People didn’t like that
“Remember, Cruzs strategy initially was to beat Trump across the evangelical south and then settle into a long war with Marco Rubio”
I get a kick when I hear Cruz supporters talk about his grassroots campaign. It’s a myth .. he was well funded by establishment players from the start; he just got “Trumped”
The unbound delegates is largely a wash in PA... most will support whoever wins their district... the rest are pretty evenly split so odds are it will have little impact on the end breakdown... if Cruz picks up one in a district one by Trump... Trump will pick up on in a district won by Cruz...
Much ado about nothing.
Tead is the king of pure imagination.
He’s the pauper of reality.
Colorado was not a good thing for Ted.
You think Cruz will win some districts. That’s cute.
I know people here will respond "But them's the rules" but I think it ludicrous that a state - any state - should have a primary that is deliberately confusing for the voters. That is, you can check off the presidential candidate of your choice but that vote is meaningless unless you also select the corresponding delegate pledged to support that candidate. And because the ballot will not list the presidential candidate that a delegate candidate is pledged to, you have to do some detective work before even getting to the booth.
The reason for the convoluted process can only be so that the party establishment can confuse the "rank and file" and thus have better control over what candidate their state delegation will support at the convention.
It's very dishonest.
Pinging PA car
From 50’nifty states
Information for you and to pass to others in PA
I hope that delegate list is widely circulated in PA. Good job.
So that means if 80 percent go with Trump, he will basically pick-up 100 out of 125 delegates.
845 + 100 Pa = 945
945 + 51 NJ = 996
945 + 101 CT, MD, DE, RI = 1,046
1046 + 34 WV = 1080
1080 + 36 OR, WA = 1,116
1,116 + 120 CA = 1236
This does not count Indiana. He wins Indiana, its over without even any backroom bargaining. Even without Indiana, I have no doubt Trump and Manafort will have no problem getting the extra delegates on the first ballot. This thing is over!
Lol at Colorado.
Cruz says Multi Billionaire couldn’t run a lemonade stand.
Wrong. Team Trump simply parlayed 34 Colorado lemons into delegate fortified lemonade.
Superior PSOPYS trumps superior ground game.
“he will basically pick-up 100 out of 125 delegates.”
PA has 71 delegates total..17 statewide..so my guess is he could come out with 40-50.
Plus you left out New Mexico, so maybe you end up at the same number..let’s hope :)
I’ve personally spoken to 2 out of the 3 Trump delegates in my district in PA who are running. There are a few more, but I’m going with the recommended 3. I predict Trump will gain the majority of delegates in PA, even though most are uncommitted, he is actually doing a good job in educating voters here on which delegates support him.
And even the ones who haven’t come out supporting one candidate have said they will vote for the winner of the district on first ballot anyways.
I got a robot call from a so called “unaffiliated” PAC tonight telling me which delegates I should vote for in my district for the Republican party...I looked them up and they were Cruz or original Rubio delegates...then I got an email from Cruz asking for money, then two more robot calls from Cruz telling me to attend his rallies tomorrow.
Seriously, it’s been non stop Cruz marketing in PA...but NEPA is hard core Trump country.
Well, with Trump daily demonstrating that he is in no way a conservative Republican, we can hope that the delegates in PA will realize this and support an actual conservative, Ted Cruz!
I do like the fact that we can vote for our own delegates on the ballot, and wish more states would adopt that policy to avoid these delegate battles after the fact...
But I do agree that they should put the candidate who they support next to their names on the ballot so evwryone knows.
I did my research to find the Trump delegates in my district, but I’m sure there are plenty of voters who won’t know when the time comes.
Complete 3rd world disgrace.
