Former Sanders adviser: 'Israel will be eliminated'
inn ^ | 4/20/16 | David Rosenberg

Retired US Army Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson is no stranger to controversy, with a legacy of questionable statements on Israel and the US government.

In 2013 the former chief of staff for then-Secretary of State Colin Powell suggested that Israel was responsible for the use of chemical weapons in Syria.

In 2007 Wilkerson appeared in a Dutch documentary, claiming that American foreign policy was dominated by “the Jewish lobby”.

Despite his history of inflammatory rhetoric and frequent conspiracy theories, Wilkerson was tapped to serve as a military and foreign policy adviser for the Bernie Sanders campaign in 2015.

In the wake of yet another controversial interview, however, it appears that the Sanders campaign dropped Wilkerson, a point Wilkerson noted while speaking earlier this month to The Real News Network.

“The last time I spoke this way on your show, I compromised my ability to work for the Bernie Sanders Campaign. So now I’ve probably foreclosed my ability to work for anyone.”

True to form, the former Sanders adviser made yet another series of over-the-top claims during the interview, asserting among other things that Israel had “captured” the US government, a common claim employed by fringe elements and white supremacists.

Perhaps socialists just need a scapegoat to justify their power grab, but the national socialists and soviet socialists hated the Jews too. It’s no surprise that Bernie and his socialist supporters want to see the Jewish Problem eliminated.

Israel will be remembered long after Wilkerson’s name has been forgotten and to classify him as a loon just about puts him in the right category.

I hear these anti-semetic assertions made much more by the hard core left. ie. The BLM and Occupy crowds and this former advisor are classic examples.

The media likes to think its the right that thinks like this, when in reality it is the Left. Including the media folks themselves.

Why would Cheney have to disavow the guy when this guy was one of those people who was involved in the Niger / Joe Wilson / Valerie Plame witch hunt trying to take out Cheney?

To disavow someone you have to be responsible for them in some manner. Cheney was not responsible for Larry ... Wilkerson was Powell’s staffer, along with Armitage... and later hooked up with Sanders, who is no friend of Cheney’s, either, while Powell threw his lot in with Obama, biggest opponent of all. Wilkerson was also tied in with birther Pat Lang of the wacko LaRouche group VIPS, which was feeding conspiracy crap to Ted Kennedy, and was working hard to counter Cheney and Rumsfeld as well. You don’t need to disavow your enemies or other people’s staffers- the fact that they’re enemies working for your main opponent is distance by default.

“To disavow someone you have to be responsible for them in some manner.”

I agree. The word “disavow” was recently in vogue when there was a clamor for Trump to disavow the KKK and David Duke. Trump was in no way responsible for them.

This case is different. Powell, et al., are fully responsible for those they employ and should “disavow” if asked.

Thanks for the ping! I was vaguely wondering about Wilkerson the other day when one of the old VIPS guys resurfaced. Who was the one that got caught posting the fake news story, got fired over it, and then showed up at another newspaper?—do you remember who I’m talking about? I saw their name again a couple weeks ago and saved the file somewhere but now I can’t remember their name—this is gonna bug me now. . .

It was a Capital Hill Blue story posted in Japan Today [Japan something, not sure of the name]... the CHB guy a few years later had a traffic accident with a cow and was in serious condition in the hospital but I don’t know if he recovered or what.

Writer was Doug Thompson and the story went to the legit news site in Japan via the not legit leftwing loon site Truthout, org [which has a huge and interesting history of its own.]

Topic was Colin Powell as I recall. Time to reread it, I guess.

And when he was called on it IIRC he destroyed the articles so no one could analyze them.

Thanks, I am pretty sure Thompson was one of the characters I had in mind, though I may be conflating him with another similar incident around the same time--wasn't there a Wilkerson/Wilkinson thing, too?

BTW an update on Thompson, who has crawled back out of the woodwork: http://www.capitolhillblue.com/node/57068

Ah, yes, as I’m reviewing the link you posted, I see “Terrance J. Wilkinson” is mentioned in the same context—I knew there was a Wilkinson in there somewhere.

I’m wondering if this Wilkerson knows the whistleleaker Army Colonel that Schiff dredged up?

‘Mr. President, I’ve got a few scores to settle’ Democratic congressional candidate Valerie Plame’s (N.M.) campaign on Monday released a new ad, where she ended it with a message of having a “few scores to settle.” The ad, which is titled, “Undercover,” shows liberal activist and ex-CIA operative Plame driving a Chevy Camaro backwards on an empty road in rural New Mexico while narrating her background throughout the ad. “I was an undercover CIA operative. My assignment was preventing rogue states and terrorists from getting nuclear weapons. You name a hot spot, I lived it,” Plame said, as Iran, Iraq,...
