Sen. Ted Cruz for the first time said he believes the Republican Party is headed to a contested convention.
Cruz had previously called a contested convention likely and that it seemed the party was heading in that direction. But after a disappointing third-place loss in New York Tuesday, the Texas Republican is no longer saying he plans to beat front-runner Donald Trump at the ballot box.
"We are headed to a contested convention, Cruz said in an interview with Philadelphia talk-radio personality Chris Stigall this morning. At this point, nobody is getting 1,237. Donald is going to talk all the time about other folks not getting to 1,237; hes not getting there either. None of us are getting to 1,237.
And hes right about one thing. After the New York primary, it is now mathematically impossible for Cruz to clinch the Republican nomination using bound or pledged delegates before the July convention in Cleveland.

Give it up Cruz.
It’s over, you lost.
Give it up Cruz.
It’s over, you lost.
Ted wants the candidate to be selected behind closed smoke filled doors by the part elite. FU Ted Cruz.
You still have to get these people into the Church on Sunday. After all the creaming and hollowing and speaking in tongues, they have to come to Church and put a few dollars in the collection plate to pay the fellow who fixes the leak in the roof.
I’m afraid you’re right. I just don’t see how either Cruz or Trump win. The numbers simply don’t add up.
Don't forget, the FBI has yet to weigh in..
“Ted is seeing the big picture.
No one can get the majority and Teds strategy is a contested convention.
I cant wait.”
So you cannot wait for the party elite to select the nominee behind closed doors. That says a lot about you and none of it is good.
Then you must have noticed also that Clinton received almost TEN times the number of votes Cruz did. What is your point?
I never disliked Ted, was leery of him over his bad trade votes, but that night did it. Still can’t get that image of him out of my head selling us out to those howling mobs.
Just go thru altura’ posting history. (Warning: you’ll need a bucket.)
She’s one of the Cruzlim Imams.
President Kasich thanks Ted for helping him slay the Trump Dragon and win the nomination.
“And each round Cruz gets more odds of getting to 1237.”
You need to put that crack pipe down.
Yup. You nailed it. Cruz may be a scholar, but he is not a thinker nor a doer. He’s proving that he is incapable of rational thought and critical thinking.
Dreams are fun I guess. Not real, but fun.
I think Teddy had better drive a silver spike into his campaign, put on some pants, put on the red hat and unite the party under Donald J. Trump as our next President of the United States. Anything else and he is the enemy of the Republic who is guaranteeing a Democrat in the White House next November. Period!
Well, Teddy Roosevelt made that charge in 1912, and it wasnt true then either. What happens with any system you choose, there are always going to be some persons who better know how to work the system better. And there are always ways to get around any set of rules. Wendell Wilkie managed to break through in 1940 ever though lime Trump, he was a businessman. And, as it turned out, a liberal.
Nanny State Cruz out to protect the American people from their own choices, how special.
Bingo!~
He talks about coming together and then does this! If the man woke up he would understand only 4 states has voted for him, including his own with less than 50% . He came third in three swing must win states. Maybe 4th if you include NH.
he would never win FL here and yet this man who is doing the establishment bidding and letting his own ego get in the way is splitting the party. he he talks about unity.
