Trump is the only candidate serious about securing the border. Mitt never was and Ted will do exactly what the GOPe tells him to do. Trump will raise 5 kinds of hell until either he is defeated by the congress on the issue or they capitulate and bow to his demands for a wall.
He may not get it done but at least we will have someone who actually takes the first steps to really securing the border. And those first steps are a newly elected President pointing at Congress and saying "The main plank of my campaign platform was building a wall to secure the border and the people have spoken, let us begin."
Romney wanted to build a fence

No Romney never wanted to build a fence...
Romney pushed for the AMNESTY Bill and hired illegal aliens...
as the Gov of MASS he had Sanctuary Cities and ordered the police to just let arrested illegal aliens go...
Romney said that “we cant send them all back” so send none...
and
“we must find a pathway to citizenship” for the illegal aliens...
In 2008 he went down to the border and had photo ops in front of the fence that his opponent candidate Congressman Duncan Hunter had already built, refusing to give Hunter the credit and attempting to give the impression that he (Romney) had something to do with the building of the fence...
In 2008 he suddenly had a come to the mormon jesus moment about the illegal aliens and supposedly a fence...
But it was only because in 2008 he was running opposite genuine Americans who wanted people to immigrate the right way...
In 2012 there was no mention of a fence from Romney...
I get your point and concede that border security may be your primary issue. But building a fence or wall is not necessarily a Conservative position. The Soviets secured their borders. Conservatives don't have to.
If we simply stopped giving out free stuff, we wouldn't have an immigration problem.
