Actually, Cruz didn’t give us Roberts. As you know, he wasn’t in the Senate at that time. W asked him his opinion of Roberts and Cruz said he’d be ok, but that Mike Luttig, who was far more conservative, would have been his first choice.

Also, at the time, no one knew what a squish Roberts would be .. nor was 0bama on the horizon.

Cruz brought Roberts in during the Bush recount and into the Bush sphere. He wrote an endorsement of Roberts supporting the nominations and praised Roberts during school lectures.

Actually, a year following Obama’s keynote address (a launching pad for his future Presidential candidacy) at the DNC held in my hometown of Boston, Ann Coulter expressed serious reservations about the John Roberts SCOTUS nomination.
