It is the culture of Washington needing the change, not Trump.
Having said that - then you fully expect Cruz, Kasich and the Repugs will #NeverTrump in Cleveland. And hand Hillary the win?
I don't think so. I think backroom deals will be made, Trump will play nice by THEIR GOP-e rules, and he will get their support.
But if he stays all lone worlf and adopts Jim's "Eff the GOP-e" attitude; he's toast.
And you stoop to advertising for a backwater ditch forum in your signature as you depart?
What a cur.
Love it!!! God bless!
LOL!
If they steal it from him I will stand with him an other when CW2 breaks out
But if I stand with him, he damn sure better keep his promises to the American citizen or I will help become the hunter.
THEDONALD2016!!!!!!!!!
Sorry, Ben. We traded it for the promise of a wall.
“Ted seemed to miss many of the important votes and voted WRONGLY on a bunch of others.
Hes unlikeable, unelectable, and needs to drop out.”
100%
Yeah, well, I've tried to avoid all the name calling and worse that has gone on this primary season. It's been the worst primary for that stuff since this site started IMO. When Trump kicks Hillary's ass, as I'm quite sure he will, because she is a really, really, really terrible campaigner, even with the media doing everything they can to hold her up, I'll be pleased. However, when Trump starts governing from the left, except on a very few issues, I won't be surprised at all. It's obvious he has no core coherent political philosophy, beyond "what makes me look good?". He won't be the worst thing that could happen to this country, but he also won't be anywhere near the best. The schadenfreude will be running thick and heavy by 2020. Of that I'm pretty darn sure. If he surprises me, I'll say so. I figure we're in for an interesting next few years regardless.
Thank you for your thoughtful post-I believe any sensible person who really believes in changing things-instead of just bitching about the way things are-realizes that it can’t be done with another PC people pleaser for POTUS-and haven’t we all had enough of lawyers-on both sides-for awhile?
I gagged and held my breath to vote for both McCain and Romney, who were both gutless-I’ll be happy not to have to do that again.
When I was a kid, I was gleeful when JFK pretty much flipped the bird at the USSR-even though my dad was in the military, and it meant he would probably have to go to Cuba and fight. In today’s world, JFK would be reviled as a warmonger and probably impeached-he would also be a Republican...
We need an un-PC strongman in today’s world-not some wuss who is all about bowing to liberal opinions-and foreign enemies-I’m all for going back to the balls-to-the-wall type of leaders I’ve read about in history books-I don’t have to want to have a beer with the POTUS to respect him...
In 1999 Trump reluctantly agreed that if he were prochoice he had no right to object to a legal procedure. That was his turning point. 4 months later he made a public statement that he had spoken reluctantly feeling cornered but had realized that he was wrong and he had to set the record straight.
Since that time (2000) Trump has gotten more and more prolife and has committed to defunding Planned Parenthood upon becoming President unless they cease performing abortions. Trump on the Issues- Abortion
Additionally Trump donated a vastly greater amount to Republicans than Democrats, again its on the record. If you limit the Presidency to people who agree with you on every issue there is no one left to run. If you limit it to people who agree with your hot button issue they will lose and they will most likely carry a lot of baggage, other positions that you are not in agreement with. We must fight for America with the candidates we have or she will fall and we will fall with her.
Nicely written. Thanks for posting Jim.
I have never been a Cruz supporter and would have a tough time voting for him. I voted for Trump in my primary and evidently will have to vote for him in the general. There is a lot wrong with Trump and we haven’t begun to see the fallout which I sincerely believe will be his demise in the general. I hope that is not the case but it is a strong possibility. Not because conservative’s won’t unite behind him, but because of Trump himself.
Jim, in your comments “freedom” seems to be the theme. You ask that we unite and pray in defense of our freedoms by supporting Donald Trump. Yet, the very thing you are asking many to do, is what has been denied to those on Free Reoublic who felt they had the “freedom” to express logical, truthful debate regarding Trumps electability, as well as his flaws. Now, inorder to remain on FR, a site where many of us have prayed together, shared personal triumphs and griefs and counted on for many years, the only options are, remaining silent or leave. Doesn’t sound like a “FreeRepublic” to me.
I hope you get your wish. I hope Trump indeed tells the Republican Party to GFY.
Right there on the Convention Floor.
The question is - will it be when he is DENIED the nomination?
But suppose he wins. He manages to get by on the first or second ballot. Then will he have the guts of many FReepers here to tell the Republicans to go eff themselves?
Either way - I would love to see that. Even though that would hand Hillary the election.
Given that you neglected to answer Jim’s question and that you have been posting a lot like you usually do, (begging for attention) I’d venture to guess that your tagline is another “look at me,” pleading by you.
Gloating by posting to someone who's been zotted is not really gloating, IMHO.
Reality as of today is that Trump has not reached 1237.
I don’t think that’s how Donald rolls and I think he’s going to call the shots.
