If youre looking for a company that pays its employees exceedingly well, youd best start looking at job ads for consulting or tech. Those are the two sectors that dominated Glassdoors annual list of the 25 Highest Paying Companies in America.
A.T. Kearney topped 2016s rankings. The Chicago-based management consulting firm offers employees annual median total compensation of $167,534. At No. 5 on Glassdoors list, Google GOOGL -1.61% led the tech sector with median total compensation of $153,750. The only company in the top 25 that wasnt related to consulting or tech was credit card issuer Visa V -0.86% at No. 11 with median total compensation of $150,000.
As in previous years, Glassdoors list is collated from anonymous salary reports from staff members working in around 540,000 different companies.
The median base salary of the 25 companies on this list comes out to around $130,000 and is about four-and-a-half times more than the median net compensation of around $28,851 for the average American. The reason for the disparity, as Glassdoor notes, is the in-demand skills that these companies are seeking, and the salary expectations that workers often command from these companies in return.

Tech companies actually have to make a profit. In the marketplace. Defense companies are sucking off the Government teat.
Defense companies have to win contracts in a very competitive environment. They also serve a very important role in helping our nation’s military. It is sad to see those on the right parroting leftist talking points when talking down Defense Contractors.
I’ve worked for Defense contractors. They can piss away money like no one’s business. Lets be honest, shall we? They’re in it to make a profit. As they should be. Lets not hoist them on too high a pedestal.
“Be comforted that in the face of all aridity and disillusionment
And despite the changing fortunes of time
There is always a big future in computer maintenance.”
Defense Companies have to compete with Tech Companies for talent while constantly jumping though endless bureaucratic hoops.
Of course they must make a profit. It’s called Capitalism.
Its a lot easier to make a profit with the Department of Defense covers any cost overruns.
Any company who causes consistent cost overruns in DOD contracting will receive “Red” Contractor Performance Assessment Ratings. This is a scarlet letter in the industry and will eventually kill their contract business. Bad things can sometimes happen, but all contractors have DCMA auditors at their place of business to monitor contract progress. Not many fields have this kind of oversight. Sure money can sometimes be wasted, but the field is one of the few conservatives industries left and is full of patriotic Americans who want our military to continue to be the best. You should worry more about money wasted studying the Climate Change hoax.
