To all the political junkies yearning for a contested Republican convention this summer: not so fast.
It's still possible for Donald Trump to clinch the nomination by the end of the primaries on June 7. His path is narrow and perilous. But it's plausible and starts with a big victory Tuesday in his home state New York primary.
Trump is the only candidate with a realistic chance of reaching the 1,237 delegates needed to clinch the nomination before the July convention in Cleveland. His rivals, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich, can only hope to stop him.
If Cruz and Kasich are successful, politicos across the country will have the summer of their dreams a convention with an uncertain outcome. But Trump can put an end to those dreams, and he can do it without any of the 150 or so delegates who will go to the convention free to support the candidate of their choice.
What comes next isn't a prediction, but rather, a way in which Trump could win the nomination outright on June 7.
To be sure, Trump will have to start doing a lot better than he has so far. He gets that chance starting Tuesday, beginning the day with 744 delegates.

Win votes that are upcoming is the answer. Second to that is to hope Ted gets third place in many of them, which I do believe he will.
USA FIRST, Go Trump.
ping
With a strategy like Reagan's: "We win, they lose!"
There’s more: Carson and Christie (and, I think Paul) all have unbound delegates available before the convention (something like 12-14) plus 16-18 unbound delegates from the Virgin Islands. There are also unannounced winners from ND, which according to Lewandowski gave Trump 3-6.
That’s potentially 36 more.
AWESOME!!
What it’s going to end up, seems to me is that Ted could become President of Colorado, but nothing higher, IMO.
A tactical masterpiece if one were playing a board game. A strategic disaster, however. He will reap the consequences in spades.
Trump is the only one with a path to the 1237, but it’s a difficult path. Considering the rigged system, it is very difficult.
Also they could eliminate Colorado from the delegates needed.
So mote it be!
Must be BB 59?
If only Trump could get a higher percentage of delegates than he got the percentage of votes.
The system is rigged in favor of trump and the political establishment but I think Cruz can overcome this.
Rottsa ruck!
Cruz is the political establishment. Look at his donors.
Trump is anticonservative.
Look at his donor.
Right the system is rigged for Trump LOL. That is why Cruz was selected to get all CO votes! Any rigged part is for Cruz in hopes he could eliminates Trump then bye bye Cruz the RINO will be the nominee.
