Still reeling after Sen. Ted Cruz’s delegate sweep in Colorado, voters are waking up to the fact that delegates are the ones who will determine the Republican nominee and that the primaries and caucuses are just for show. What’s more, there might just be another Colorado on the horizon, where voters will get no say at all.
Up next is the state of Wyoming, a state which, along with Colorado and North Dakota, has chosen to not hold a nominating contest this year, which means no primary or caucus vote. Instead, Republican voters there will be represented by county delegates at a convention April 14-16. They will select the statewide delegates who will represent Wyoming at the Republican National Convention in July in Cleveland.
Wyoming holds 29 delegates: 14 will be elected at the convention and 12 have already been selected at county conventions — nine of which are Cruz supporters. One delegate went to Sen. Marco Rubio, one went to Donald Trump, and one is uncommitted. The remaining three delegates slots automatically go to members of the state GOP.
After the results in Colorado, a decision made last August when the state party there decided voters would not weigh in, one can expect Trump and his team to take Wyoming seriously and put forth a strong effort to make sure their supporters are selected to the remaining 14 slots at the Wyoming convention.
Wyoming is the final state to opt not to hold a nominating contest. Following the Cowboy State are states such as Delaware, Arizona and Virginia, which will hold their state conventions on April 30 — following their state’s caucuses or primaries. Most of the other states have gone more as expected.

How many showed up to the caucus? How many could be bothered? If you want your vote to count, you actually have to show up to vote.

In other words, elections are so insignificant to Colorado voters that only .6% of the voters bother to vote????

The reason why I absolutely cannot support Cruz is that I have done my homework on him.
He simply cannot be trusTED.
Ironic, isn't it? Especially on a site called "Free Republic" which is supposed to be the antithesis to "mob rule" demands of tearing down our systems to be replaced with the liberal's "wet dream" of a "democratic system".
With this type of garbage, I'm thinking Trump would be happier with Bernie as his VP, than he would with a Republican.

No, they had a straw poll for the last two or three presidential elections. But the actual election process has not changed in nearly 100 years.
Note: There were lots of Trump delegates seeking support in the room. It is not a winner take all state. It seems rather improbable that not one of the many Trump delegates in the room was not chosen if the process was not rigged.
Eight of the alternate delegates were awarded to Trump, elected just like the rest... and Trump's own people on the ground admit they blew it.
If you cannot see how the system in place at least looks corrupt and dishonest, especially to people that were new to the system and how they might legitimately feel they’d been cheated then I don’t think I can explain it to you.
Seems to me it ain't none of our business. It is the business of the sovereign people of the State of Colorado, who have found this system to be satisfactory for a very, very long time. And in the independent spirit of the Rocky Mountain States, I am sure they don't appreciate all y'all telling them they are too stupid to know what to do.

With all due respect.....the fact is, we live in a Republic form of Government. The states have the authority to say how they will run their primaries to pick their candidate/delegates.....and Colorado fought the GOPe to retain their right to do things "their way".
If you are a Colorado, North Dakota or Wyoming resident....you have skin in the game....so you might want to push for changes next election season. If you aren't.....you have no business telling them how to conduct their state's primary business.
Those recently reviled "insider party people"? They are just normal people, and have as much right to make decisions as you do, maybe more, since they are willing to do the hard work for that right.
You understand that also....or you wouldn't be trying to push the "Requiring multiple day, attendance for precincts, districts, and state is too difficult for people who have a life beyond politics"

The bitter truth is......Trump, is playing a "Pied Piper" tune. He wouldn't be whining about all this "unfairness", or saying it was "crooked", if he had beaten Cruz, using these same rules.
He would be all over TV "crowing" about how smart/superior he was....and how he did nothing but "win, win, win".
Same thing happened in Colorado, except that they didn't bother with the non-binding Straw Poll.
At some point you need to recognize that your candidates campaign sucks. Nothing else.
BTW I will give you a precursor to the next place Trumps sucky campaign will show itself. California. He needs to identify 6 delegates in all 53 CDs or He gets no delegates in those CDs. Started last week. Cruz started in November and just finished. So when Trump starts whining about California being unfair, do what most of us do, ignore him.
They were non binding votes. The election of the delegates was the only thing that mattered.

More than that - Folks forget about the massive turnover in state and local offices at the midterm. Particularly out here in the Rockies (and the West generally), that means those 'insider party people' are TEA Party Patriots. Caucus states are much easier to take over meaningfully from the ground up.
Trump lost the Rockies. Complete shut-out. Only Montana is left, and she won't give him anymore than her sisters did. Maybe folks should ponder the reason for that, and Colorado in that context.
