The call for action from scientists in the UK, US, Europe and Australia reflects a growing consensus among experts that frequent cannabis use can increase the risk of psychosis...In the UK, cannabis is the most popular illegal drug, and according to Public Health England data, more young people enter treatment centres for help with cannabis than any other drug, alcohol included.

I think states that are considering legalizing pot need to take a good long hard look at the experiences in Colorado and Washington. Ask any cop in Washington and Colorado. Accidents are up as are other drug offenses. I heard 50% of drivers are either high on alcohol or would test positive for pot. Drive defensively!
I live in SW Oregon and since pot was legaalized many things have become worse. Tons of car accidents, many stolen cars, driver runs and abandons car. Crime in general up, even the local hippies are sick of the influx of newcomer weirdos and shady characters buying up property so they grow tons of dope. This is just the beginning. And the idea that “once pot is legal people won’t be doing other drugs” is pure bulls***. There’s just as much meth and heroin as ever, in fact it looks to me as though it’s more of a problem. I agree with everything you said from reading, personal experience with people I have known, and my own doper experience albeit many years ago when the potency was tiny fraction of what it is now.
The dont call it dope for nuttin!
And they don’t call it “getting wasted” for nuttin’, either.
-—The 60’s pot is a thing of the past. Dosage concentration is much higher

I smoked pot some in the 60’s. Not much, but I did a few times. Got mellow, but I preferred beer.
A dozen or so years ago a friend of mine from the army came up to see me from Louisiana. He brought some pot to smoke. Well, why not, when you are old you like to do things you did when you were young.
Holy smack cakes batman. I had a couple hits of his brass little tiny pipe (that only held two hits) and 3 minutes later I thought I was going to die.
This was NOT the pot I smoked as a kid.
He laughed, and explained it was synthetic pot.
I never was so out of my gourd (and I have been falling down drunk more times than I care to admit) as I was at that point. I swear I was praying to God to end this buzz ASAP. I wanted it to go away. and NOW.
You are abso-F*in-lutely correct.
What they make now is NOT your father’s pot.
I was so mad at him, and I haven’t invited him back since (not just for that reason, but that was one of the main reasons). It was so bad, I took it personally.
“reflects a growing consensus among experts that frequent cannabis use can increase the risk of psychosis...”
Hodda thot?
It’s pretty easy to spot burnouts. Just wait for the inevitable temporary blankness to come over them. It’s like when a bad dvd freezes momentarily. Can’t miss it.
Synthetic pot is not pot at all.
Yeah, I forgot to add Oregon. Interesting, . same stuff I’ve been hearing, especially about the dosage concentration and accident stuff. Took a trip to the coast recently and was super cautious. . Nothing happened, but I was sure hyperalert to other drivers.
Glad you made it through your bad trip. Guy shoulda’ told you. Have a nephew who’s had the same bad experience with the synthetic pot. . that’s another issue with the whole street drug thing, You Never Know what you’re getting. . really with any street drug, could be talcum powder, powdered sugar, real weeds or whatever. . BTW, reminds me of a TV documentary I saw last week, 18 y/o High School genius, perfect SAT, going to college, takes a ‘hit of Acid’ (was sold as LSD, a little square paper wafer) to celebrate SAT and graduation. . was some new synthetic crap from China, I didn’t get the name, and she Died. .

I never thought of it as a “trip”, but I never “tripped”. Never tried acid or mushrooms, but I reckon that’s about as close to a bad trip or a trip as I have ever come.
It may have been. All I know is I wanted it to end. I asked my wife if I should go to the hospital (I was at my cabin, so that was 70 miles away), and she calmed me down.
I was asleep shortly thereafter.
But I really did consider calling the EMT’s (only the cost and my pride deterred me, I’m a cheapskate and a bullheaded ass who thinks he can live through anything)
I’m sure those near the edge, were pushed over the edge by canibas were probably pushed over the edge. Why push them?
There’s a hippie fair thing every year, and last year there were two heroin ODs, actually another one later that summer. Maybe more. I hear dispatch 24/7 so I hear what goes on in our rural valley, as far as first responders (FF and paramedic), don’t hear cops but there’s barely any LE anyway out here.
4 inches shorter in height or 4 inches shorter?
Pot smoking and high level reasoning are mutually exclusive.
Pot smoking and high level reasoning are mutually exclusive.
You sure hear a lot of noise about heroin. In the 60s it was the ‘last drug’ in the cycle of drug abuse. If you did heroin it was ‘end of the line’ type connotation, opium dens, junkie, etc. I personally didn’t know anyone who used heroin until much later. . now it seems to be a national epidemic.
Amen to that. Come to think of it, never knew a chronic pothead who was a genius. : )
Good description. The blankness and the response delay + the emo no smile thing.
