The Juneau County Sheriff says that most of the herd is in the Union Center area, according to the Messenger of Juneau County.
The herd belongs to an Amish farmer who is working on rounding up the animals.
Officials say they are not sure how long it will take to round them all up.
JUNEAU COUNTY (WKOW) -- A herd of 120 buffalo escaped from its enclosure in southern Juneau County Thursday night.
The Juneau County Sheriff's Office said it has created dangerous travel conditions in the Union Center, Elroy and Wonewoc. Officials advised against approaching or disturbing the buffalo, on foot or in cars, due to their stampeding behavior.
Officials are working to contain and capture the buffalo, but say they likely won't be able to do so until the morning.

They’re not buffalo, they’re bison.

Whatever. I’m catching a flight from NYC and should have it taken care of within an hour.
I’ll use excel and PowerPoint :)
Guns and a festival: that would feed a lot of people. The cowboys here in Texas hate messin’ with bison and they charge 4x more than regular bovine on a round up.
Let them roam free, they won’t hurt anything, it would be cool to have them repopulate some of midwest areas
You really don’t know about bison do you.
True, though the butchers here call them buffalo.
“buffalo selfies”
“Theyre not buffalo, theyre bison.”
Exactly. There are no buffalo in the US, unless they’re in a zoo.
I'd rather have 120 bear turned loose. They're nasty animals.
Was Hillary’s campaign in Wisconsin?
We run bison on the ranch and they get angry if you call them buffalo. Of course, they’re almost always angry so calling them bison gets you about the same reaction, too!
“The American bison (Bison bison), also commonly known as the American buffalo, is a North American species of bison that once roamed the grasslands of North America in massive herds. “
“The name “buffalo” is listed in many dictionaries as an acceptable name for American buffalo or bison. In reference to this animal, the term “buffalo” dates to 1625 in North American usage when the term was first recorded for the American mammal.[14] It thus has a much longer history than the term “bison”, which was first recorded in 1774.”
“Let them roam free, they wont hurt anything, it would be cool to have them repopulate some of midwest areas”
Really? Did you forget the sarc tag?
Buffalo roaming free, what could go wrong?
Break down fences releasing domestic livestock herds.
Wander into the path of oncoming vehicles causing death, damage and serious injuries.
Destroy crops, ruining livelihood of farmers.
Dig holes in grassy areas developing blow outs and causing erosion and damage to topsoil.
Spread disease among domestic livestock herds and other ruminant wildlife.
Yep that would work. It’s bad enough hitting a cow on the road. A big bison bull would be a real thrill.
The song says "where the buffalo roam".....not where the bison roam. Besides, buffalo is a lot sexier than bison.
Oh, give me a Home where the Buffalo Roam,
where the Deer and the Antelope play...
