Presidential hopeful Ted Cruz got the cold shoulder from a room of 800 Republicans at the New York City GOP gala Thursday night, receiving little interaction from the audience as he went through his usual stump speech.
Cruz, who followed speeches from rivals Donald Trump and John Kasich, began by making a joke at Trumps expense that fell flat. I havent built any buildings in New York City, but I have spent my entire life fighting to defend the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, the Texas senator said, taking a shot at the GOP front-runner who, just moments before, spent the majority of his speech talking about his New York real estate successes.
Media at the scene reported guests walking around and talking during Cruzs address.

Was this televised? Can not believe it got so little play’
We can check out CSpan. They run everything. Like Mikey.
This gala, I gotta see.
I hate to see anybody mistreated who shows up, b-but Cruz said the Republicans were ALL coalescing around h-himMMMuh.
WhaHoppin here ~~ Ricky Ricardo
Trump has gone on almost every news and talk show from every network. Cruz has not tried to deal with the antogonistic hosts at MSNBC,.
New York values.
Thanks for pointing that out.
That's your special talent!
I am a long-term FReeper. Since 2005. I am currently in Asia, and do not currently have access to a secure internet connection.
So I am using this login right now. My regular login is Cringing Negativism Network.
Now that we have settled that, how is it which you are claiming, Cruz actually is Conservative?
He seems to me, like yet another mainstream sellout. What is he supporting which you like? I just listened to about half the Democrat debate. It was frankly, eye-opening.
Cruz would be WIPED OUT. By either one of them.
He WILL NOT BE ELECTED. He won’t win. He won’t win. He won’t win.
He won’t win. If he wins the primaries due to the sort of nonsense we have seen, manipulating counts in private non-polls, he will lose in the biggest wipe-out ever.
Cruz is not a winner. He is a manipulative sneak, and he is almost cheating, in the primary process.
Cruz needs to stand down.
Sort of like the Colorado voters being MIA?
So a group of NY RINO’s like Trump and dislike Cruz, says a lot right there.
Cruz won’t give the time of day to LIBERAL MSNBC... whereas Trump discovered he couldn’t deal with antagonistic CONSERVATIVES, so he dodged CPAC. That was after first accepting the invitation to speak there.
I think I’ll stick with Ted Cruz, who spoke to enthusiastic audiences and rave reviews at CPAC.
For those who don’t know, CPAC = CONSERVATIVE Political Action Conference. Cruz attended; Trump accepted and then backed out.
Cartel Cruz loses, outright, states that only TRUMP delivers with a shot for Republicans toward gaining.
Cruz brings no cross over voters, far fewer Independents and no “movement” energy, whatsoever.
Repeat that last line. No movement energy, whatsoever.
Cruz is tiresome, a grinding bore, with a nuisance personality.
He can not beat TRUMP, in the popular vote, never mind Hillary.
He cheats (and brags about it) to even account for the delegates he “claims” to have now.
LOSE with Cruz would be a promise in November, and everybody knows it.
This be why he will never get the nomination.
>> He WILL NOT BE ELECTED. He wont win. He wont win. He wont win. He wont win.
Wow, you really ARE “Cringing Negativism Network”! You leave no doubt!
There, fixed it.
2ndDivisionTed, I will give you this: you are, like your candidate, machine-like.
Cruz couldn't win the South / Red States in the primary. Doubtful he would win them in the general.
More evangelicals have voted for Trump over Cruz. Cruz's campaign manager has convinced Cruz that buying delegates with free trips, working the system will ensure so much goodwill with general election voters in the general election. When the opposite is the truth. Cruz cannot win the South. or Florida. Or Ohio in the general, let alone the primary.
Why can't Cruz's campaign manger be honest with Cruz and make Cruz be honest with himself that when he gloats on Hannity’s radio show that he is securing supposed delegates over Trump in certain states, that it is the biggest turnoff and disenfranchisement of actual voters in modern US election history.
Just like Trumps oped in the WSJ, Cruz is not only acknowledging he favors disenfranchising millions of voters, Cruz also thinks his unorthodox strategy is a winning strategy, which it is not.
The delusions of the Cruz campaign will go down in history with inability to acknowledge that voters do not like be disenfranchised by an outsider. Cruz isn't even from Colorado yet he is most responsible for disenfranchising millions of people from Colorado. And so many other states where he is playing the delegate game, states that overwhelmingly chose Trump. Cruzs tactics are not just pathetic, they are causing 2nd hand embarrassment for his lack of integrity.
Machines beat people at chess, and that’s what is going to happen in Cleveland.
Cruz won’t possibly win this fall.
He won’t.
Democrats will sweep the race, if he is the candidate. Heck Trump may run as an independent, and could actually win if Hillary is the democrat candidate.
If it’s Bernie, Bernie might actually win.
But there is NO WAY IN HECK, Cruz will win the presidency.
He won’t. He needs to stand down.
Trump is the only Republican, who can win the fall. And what is Cruz doing, he is FIGHTING HIM.
For the establishment.
CNN, it shouldn’t matter to Americans or FReepers where you live now (though my Texas residency bothers some), but it does matter that we Elect as Close to a conservative as possible, and NY Value Donald Trump aint it.
Thanks! I'll be voting for Donald Trump.
Um.....http://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/6-major-moments-the-ted-cruz-town-hall...happened today. Now what?
No it matters that we WIN.
Win.
That is what Trump can do. He can win. He can be much more pro-American with our trade policies. He can be much more pro-American with our borders. He can be much more pro-American with our immigration policies.
He can be for America once again. Really be for America. For our companies (our companies, not sell-outs to China) He can improve how our military veterans are treated.
Trump is completely right, about so many things, I cannot even describe.
For you to attack him shows you simply do not get it.
Cruz is a very weak candidate, who is currently manipulating the primaries.
For the establishment.
What is conservative about that?
