Confusion Over Trump's Paterno Remark
Rush Limbaugh.com ^ | April 14, 2016 | Rush Limbaugh

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Now, this is a sound bite from Trump that has people confused. He was in Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh is the Steelers. And he's talking about Joe Paterno. Joe Paterno didn't work in Pittsburgh. Joe Paterno worked in the Happy Valley for the Nittany Lions of Penn State. Does Trump not know this? Here's the bite, and I will explain it.

TRUMP: I went to school in this state, right? We know that, right? This is the town of the Pittsburgh Steelers, which we love. We do love the Pittsburgh Steelers. It's Steel City, and when I'm president, guess what? Steel is coming back to Pittsburgh.

RUSH: They don't want it back.

TRUMP: A lot of things are coming back. How's Joe Paterno? We gonna bring that back? Right? How about that -- how about that whole -- how about that whole deal? And we do love Penn State. Do we love Penn State, I mean, in all fairness?

RUSH: In all fairness, Penn State, what happened. Well, there was a sex abuse scandal there involving an assistant coach, a friend of Paterno's. It was a sordid, sordid tale. It ended up tainting Coach Paterno. What Trump is talking about here is the Paterno statue that was taken down on the campus at Penn State. There's nothing about Pittsburgh and Paterno, and Trump knows that. By the way, Trump is a big New England Patriots fan. He is. Tom Brady, he's up there with Mr. Kraft sitting in the suite now and then. But he was in Pittsburgh yesterday, so Steelers fan.

But the Paterno business, it was a statue that they took down. And Trump is basically aligning himself in the pro-Paterno group here at Penn State and suggesting that it's time to put the statue back.

“How’s Joe Paterno?”

He has been in very stable condition since 2012?

Hey Rush...he meant the statue.

Hey, didn't we know Rush is always right? He's from God! But just to make sure, it was the statue!

Why would it make a difference if he was talking about the statue or the man?

A New Yorker that is a Patriots fan? That tells you all you need to know about Trump.

Paterno looked the other way. He was an enabler of the sex abuse. The statue should stay down.

I agree. But, either way, why would a presidential candidate bring that up? It’s just stupid. Trump needs to fire that guy who writes his note cards about where he is or what policy he supports.

Hey Rush...he meant the statue.

Reading the entire monologue you would have seen that.......

What Trump is talking about here is the Paterno statue that was taken down on the campus at Penn State.

Well, I would stay away from any politician who wanted to bring the dead to life. That's just crazy talk.
If a politician wants to bring back a statue, then we can at least think about which statue, and maybe it's a good idea, maybe it's a bad idea. But at least it's not insane.

You Trumpsters think Rush aligned himself with the Cruzer, the Cruzers think he aligned himself with the Trumpster, the haystack Kasich's think he aligned himself with either the Cruzer or the Trumpster...........

“Rush said that

This is an issue much like `Corey was guilty and should be fired,’ while allegations of Cruz’s serial infidelities are wrong because of the presumption of innocence. Period.

Rush is so far up Cruz’s rear end he could check for polyps.

At least Rush portrayed Trump's words truthfully.

I saw it live, and posted last night (look under "my comments" or "my posts") and gave the same explanation. The lying Cruzers and media tried to portray Trump's words to mean something they did not (as usual.)

PSU took down the statue, took the name of buildings, etc., and Trump's words were about what I would call rehabilitating Paterno's rep, or forgiving or whatever. Many alums want just that, arguing Paterno wasn't aware of the wrongdoing. That's what Trump was referring to when he said, "bring him back" or whatever.

For the masses, who don't have the time to check out every assertion by lyin' media or lyin' Ted, they get a distorted or backwards view of reality. If someone has the luxury of time to check out what media and Cruz say, they can ferret out all the lies and misrepresentations.
