There was always some hostility under the surface. Academic leftists thought of Clinton as a sell-out. Obama was supposed to be the anti-Clinton. But then Barack and Hillary made some deal to present a united front. Right now everything is subbordinated to party unity, but old rifts will open up if Hillary is elected and governs more like Bill did than like Bernie would.
