Obama administration knew of Rolling Stone rape story before publication

The Obama administration disclosed Tuesday it first learned about Rolling Stone’s ill-fated story on campus rape in Sept. 2014, about two months before it was published, when reporter Sabrina Rubin Erdely called seeking information on the government’s investigation of the University of Virginia’s handling of sexual assaults.

The revelation from the Department of Education came the same day that a media watchdog group asked congressional oversight committees to start an investigation into what the administration may have known about the story before and after it was published and what it did to address the concerns raised in the article “The larger question we raise regards the role of public officials: Was this contrived, indeed fabricated story, part of an orchestrated power grab over U.S. universities by administration officials intent on using a major publication as a political weapon?” the Institute on Government and Media Integrity wrote in a letter to Rep. John Kline, Minnesota Republican and House Education and the Workforce Committee chairman, and Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., the chairman of the Senate education committee.

The request could open the door for Congress to obtain access to documents that have also been sought by news reporters but so far have not been released

White House officials who talked to The Washington Times on Tuesday said the administration had virtually no involvement in the story except to arrange a short interview between an Education Department official and Rolling Stone, which was supposed to be limited to a broad discussion about Title IX investigations and the Office of Civil Rights ongoing inquiry into UVa.

“I am only interested in who put them up to it and why UVA?”

Thomas Jefferson, the founding father who wrote the declaration of independence was the creator of the University of Virginia. The left has been trying to destroy the legacy of Jefferson, and his contribution to history, for decades alleging an illicit affair with the slave Sally Hemmings.

Jefferson was once the most revered founding father. John F. Kennedy held a dinner at the White House for the Nobel prize winners in the Western Hemisphere. He told them, “I think this is the most extraordinary collection of talent, of human knowledge, that has ever been gathered together at the White House, with the possible exception of when Thomas Jefferson dined alone.”

Since the 1974 when UCLA professor Fawn Brodie published her biography of Thomas Jefferson the left has continuously repeated allegation Jefferson repeatedly raped Sally Hemmings and sired multiple children with her. A DNA study published at the time of the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal has been widely touted in the press as proving Jefferson fathered Hemmings children. In reality, Jefferson’s parenthood could not be conclusively proven by DNA since there are no proven male descendents (his only child was a female). The Y (male) DNA sample used for the study came from male descendant of an uncle of Thomas Jefferson. The study only “proved” Hemmings children could have been fathered by one or more of 50 Jefferson males who were at Monticello at the time Hemmings would have conceived. In fact, other Jefferson biographers assert the father of Hemmings children was more likely Randolph Jefferson, a cousin who was notorious for frequenting the slave quarters. Dumas Malone, the biographer who spent a lifetime writing the definitive biography of Jefferson asserted to his death he did not believe the stories of Thomas Jefferson consorting with Hemmings.

In any event, to completely destroy Jefferson the man, it is necessary to destroy his legacy. Jefferson was very specific in what he considered to be his legacy, specifying the following words be inscribed on his tombstone: “HERE WAS BURIED THOMAS JEFFERSON AUTHOR OF THE DECLARATION OF AMERICAN INDEPENDENCE OF THE STATUTE OF VIRGINIA FOR RELIGIOUS FREEDOM AND FATHER OF THE UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA”. The left has already declared the Declaration of Independence to have no meaning because it did not include freedom for women and slaves. The Statute of Virginia for Religious Freedom was the forerunner for first amendment protections of religious freedom which the leftists on the Supreme Court and in the government bureaucracy have almost completely eviscerated. The third Jefferson legacy, the University of Virginia, is one of the top public research universities in the United States. The contrived Rolling Stone article was all about destroying the reputation of UVA by portraying it as a sexist and racist institution where white fraternity boys prey on helpless female students in the tradition of the founder Thomas Jefferson who preyed on helpless female slaves.

I live in the People's Republic of Charlottesville and I have no doubt that the leftist stock in trade is the lie. But there had to be a "grease man" in this op, meaning there had to be someone who could sell the lie to either the Va House of Commons (or whatever) and/or the DC solons who would do their usual parade of outrage and advance the ball to the "end zone", meaning achieve an end game.

You may be correct in the Op was an attempt to smear TJ, and the leftists never accept defeat, but I still do not believe that was the end game. There must have been some other op that would be predicated upon this. I have studied the playbook.
