Report: Al-Qaeda, Taliban Relationship in Afghanistan ‘Growing Stronger’

A resurgent al-Qaeda is “very active” and poses a “big threat” to Afghanistan, the country’s acting defense minister told CNN.

“They are really very active. They are working in quiet and reorganizing themselves and preparing themselves for bigger attacks,” declared Afghan Defense Minister Masoom Stanikzai.

“They are working behind other networks, giving them support and the experience they had in different places. And double their resources and recruitment and other things. That is how — they are not talking too much,” he added. “They are not making press statements. It is a big threat.”

“The Afghan militant group was thought to have regretted its decision to harbor Osama bin Laden before the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, because it led the U.S. to launch a war to remove them from power,” reports CNN.

“The big cover is the Taliban,” Stanikzai told the news outlet, adding, “They need the fighters, they need the support and they need recruitment from other places, and this is why [the Taliban] embrace them.”

Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Mansour assumed his position as leader of the Taliban in mid-2015. Since then, CNN notes, “the group has grown closer to al Qaeda.”

Citing U.S. officials, CNN adds, “The Taliban’s current deputy commander, Siraj Haqqani, is the head of the feared Haqqani militant network and al Qaeda’s top facilitator in Afghanistan.”

U.S. General John Campbell, former top commander of American and NATO forces in Afghanistan, reportedly said the two terrorist groups have “renewed” their partnership.

Maj. Gen. Jeff Buchanan, Deputy Chief of Staff for U.S. forces in Afghanistan, added that the relationship between al-Qaeda and the Taliban has “grown stronger.”

… U.S. special forces and Afghan commandos destroyed a training camp “with ties back to al Qaeda and a subset called al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent,”…

Every time you see the name Taliban, replace it mentally with the name Pakistan.

actually, I do, and al-qaeda. Speaking of which, I didn’t post the thread but this is a strange alliance...beware...globalist alert! (that’s why I didn’t post it. today is a sarcasm day and I am trying to keep news outside of the election on FR)

“Iran, India, Afghanistan Finalize Chabahar Pact”

The 13-year-old proposal of establishing a trade route from India to Iran, and Afghanistan and also Central Asia–bypassing Pakistan–is now within distance of becoming a reality.

The three countries have finished negotiations on the text of the trilateral transport and transit pact that will serve as the legal framework to operate trade corridors with the Iranian port of Chabahar as its main hub.

“The three technical negotiating teams finalized the text yesterday (Monday, April 11),” Indian news publication The Wire quoted Afghanistan’s Ambassador to India Shaida Mohammad Abdali as saying on Tuesday.

“This is a very, very crucial agreement for Afghanistan. The opening of this corridor will help us to fully reach our potential, give us a new trade route. This is a completely new chapter.”

Monday was a very long day for Indian, Iranian and Afghanistan negotiators as they labored to finish the text in New Delhi. They finally dispersed after shaking hands at 9.30 p.m. The text was finalized at the second meeting of the expert group. Their first meeting had been in Tehran last September.

“We are talking about the dates for the signing, which will likely take place in Iran,” he said.

Thus is the stupidest article written by a person who has no knowledge of the history of al Qaeda

Al Qaeda and the Taliban are one and the same

Taliban means “ the school” and al Qaeda means” the base”

The Taliban were Pakistani ISI supported terrorist thugs who served as ISI proxies to set up and train wahbist Jihadi recruits from all over the world who would form the nucleus of a world wide al- Qaeda jihadi movement when they hit back home to form their own local al Qaeda terror cells and teach them the radical ideology and terrorist skills what they learned from the Taliban training camps

They have done their jobs well

Many of the flood of Jihadi in Syria are members of these cells

Everyone is amazed at how fast ISIS gas expanded and this is one reason

FWIW, ISIS is being run out of Qatar and its leadership is living there

Obama was desperate to release the five Taliban generals on the eve of the ISIS invasion and did so a few weeks before ISIS went on its rampage and when Obama released the Five Taliban Generals he released them to Qatar- the same country that was controlling ISIS and providing safe haven to its leaders

The Five Taliban Generals were the ones responsible for setting up and running Taliban terror training camps in Afghanistan and who helped the al Qaeda graduates of the Taliban camps set up and organize their sleeper cells in their home countries once they graduated terror training and went home to set up their all Qaeda affiliates in their home countries
Before they were captured and sent to Gitmo , these five Taliban generals maintained close personal relationships with their grads and were their point of contacts who supervised their students formation if the world wide al Qaeda terror network if sleeper cells of trained and indoctrinated jihadi waiting for the call to wage jihad

The fact that President Obama pushed so hard to release these five Taliban weeks before ISIS went on Jihad to Qatar, the ISIS base if operations and home to its high level leadership may go a long way to explaining how ISIS assembled its world wide team of jihadi and assembled them into such an effective and cohesive fighting force so quickly

They grow stronger because they have a common enemy - the US, and a common friend - Obama.

Yes. Afghanistan, Iran, and India are getting a trade agreement together. the hair stands up on the back of my neck at “Iran” with which I think our administration is aligned.
