With the presidential race heating up in California, Republican Donald Trump on Tuesday named veteran GOP strategist Tim Clark as his state director.
Clark has more than two decades of experience running statewide and district campaigns, and will take a leave of absence as chief of staff to conservative state Sen. John Moorlach of Costa Mesa. Before coming to the Capitol, Clark guided Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengins 2014 bid for state controller.
I am pleased to bring Tim on board to organize what is a very important state, Trump said in a prepared statement announcing the hire. I know he will be an asset to the team and ultimately deliver a win in California.
In a brief interview, Clark said his focus will be on harnessing the energy of thousands of volunteers to help Trump reach the delegates he needs to clinch the GOP nomination. Look, this is one of the most historic presidential primary races weve had in the last century, Clark said.

California will determine whether there is a contested convention.
I hope he lives up to expectations.
Sen. Cruz named his California team on January 22. He’s had 118 active team members throughout the west coast for three months.
So at least one GOP candidate knows how to run an election. And not whine when he gets out-hustled and out-smarted.
What is the delegate count right now?? Cruz is like 200 behind??
I’ve lived in CA my whole life, lived in Sacramento for 15 years, and have been active in GOP politics since 1980 - I’ve never heard of him. He must do a good job of staying in the background.
By the way, there are no Republicans holding statewide office in CA.
“I hope he lives up to expectations.”
Me to. We all know the GOPe will go all out to stop Trump. He will have 4 votes from our family. Scruz the GOP.
And how would you know that, shill?
So at least one GOP candidate knows how to run an election. And not whine when he gets out-hustled and out-smarted.
Why the personal attack? Why the sneering, contemptuous hatred? Nothing about Trump denies his effort. The whole world acknowledges how far he's come. He's leading your Hillary-fodder by actual votes, where human beings actually get to vote, you know, like in elections, which your Messiah now says is not allowed by the rules, except to poll the opinions of our masters. So why not acknowledge that? Why the spitting, fuming hatred?
the state controller is the CFO of the State of California so wouldn’t that be a state-wide office?
GOOD!!! Spend. Get the best. Win!!!
Yes, but the state controller is Betty Yee, a Democrat. Ashley Swearingen lost...
California is really a media state so Cruz's ground game advantage will be minimal. Trump struts better than Cruz so he has an advantage if he puts in the time making appearances here.
In a GOPe primary.
The general election, well....
Not hardly. You see, media will work in areas that have large numbers of Republicans - Orange County, Riverside, etc. But those two counties only have 5 congressional districts, and Trump will need to get 50-60K votes in each to win them.
But in LA county, for example, there are 15 congressional districts worth 45 delegates. In most of those districts, you may only have a couple thousand GOP voters. In those districts, knowing who your supporters are and having a ground game to get them to the polls will be critical, because you could win the district with a thousand votes or so. The same thing in the Bay Area - lot of delegates, few GOP voters - a targeted ground game will be critical. Who has the best data operation and ground game? Who has the support of the state GOP? Who has had his campaign in CA in operation for almost a year already?
Cruz could easily win the majority of delegates in CA and still lose the popular vote, simply because he knows where all of his supporters are already, and how to grab all of the congressional districts with few Republicans.
“So at least one GOP candidate knows how to run an election”
You’re referring to the guy who is behind by 200 delegates and 2,000,000 votes?
“But in LA county, for example, there are 15 congressional districts worth 45 delegates. In most of those districts, you may only have a couple thousand GOP voters.”
I think there might be at most dozens, not thousands of Republicans in a lot of those LA County districts. How many Republicans live in Maxine Waters’ district? That district sends 3 delegates to the Republican convention just like the 3 delegates in Darryl Issa’s district.
Who knows how California will go on June 7. You would have to conduct 53 separate polls in California in order find out who is in front and by how much.

It’s called Google. Punk.
<<< Why the spitting, fuming hatred? >>>
No hatred at all. Someone has to counter you TrumpRepublic fanatics.
Yes.
Says a lot about the Ca republican party, the way it is structured and ran, and those who run it.
