I’m in Washington State. They first wanted to name the state Columbia, after the river that flows through our state. But, then they figured that would cause to much confusion, with .....

District of Columbia.

So - they named us Washington instead.

Oh - regarding names. The liberals thought that King County shouldn’t be named after some white settler (Rufus King). So they “changed” the name to King County - after Martin Luther King. (Although they did have to spend millions changing the county symbol with MLK’s face now on signs, letterheads, seals, etc.)

William Rufus DeVane King was not a white settler. He was a senator from Alabama and Franklin Pierce’s Vice President.
