Politicos Mike Allen remains confident that Speaker Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) could end up with the Republican president nomination for president in a brokered convention.
In an interview with Hugh Hewitt this morning, Allen explained that Ryan was using the exact same political playbook that he used to become Speaker of the House.
We have him out there doing exactly what he did when he was running for Speaker and thats making people want him, playing hard to get, Allen said, pointing out a New York Times headline this morning describing Ryan as the mirage candidate.
Ryans multiple denials of any interest in the nomination, Allen explained, were all part of the Ryan plan.

will never vote R ever again..never ever again.
Never! I may even vote D and hopefully the country will collapse sooner
Paul Ryan can unite Trump and Cruz supporters!
If Ryan gets the nomination we will all revolt.
Rule 40 precludes that. Who here thinks that Cruz and Trump delegates will vote to scrap Rule 40?
But that can’t be true the Cruz supporters tell us he will win and that he isn’t the tool some of us see him to be.
With Ryan it will be another dem president.
Exactly. I'm with you! Never again. Bunch of filthy, rotten, stinking, backstabbing, jackboot licking, traitorous wretches, the GOP (the lot of them!)
Yeah....
Americans must remove all non-conservative
GOP members starting with EXEMPT Ryan
(protector of ObamaCARE and ObamaTRADE)
and the other EXEMPT serial liars of the GOP.
Is that the secret RINO lefty handshake? I’d like to give them both a running start.
Considering the Trump and Cruz Clown Act is running 10 to 16 points behind Hillary and also losing to Sanders, Ryan as the nominee would be an improvement.
If Trump does not get the 1237 delegates REQUIRED to win the nomination Cruz will recieve the nomination in Cleveland after the first ballot.
This will happen IF Trump and Cruz stick together and use their overwhelming combined delegate majority to keep rule 40(B).
BUT the Trump card can be wild. If Duh Donald doesn’t get the 1237 by Cleveland and believes Cruz will win the nomination he will do all he can to keep it from Ted. His deranged hatred for the REAL constitutional conservative in the race will cause him to scuttle Ted and elect Hillary.
So if Trump gets the 1237 Hillary wins, if he doesn’t Hillary wins.
The DEAL was made.
Rule 40 does not preclude it. You have to carefully read the rule and not take the talking heads’ word for what it says. It only says that to be put into nomination, one must secure the majority of the delegates from 8 states. It does NOT say you have to get those delegates via primary or caucus. You can secure them after the first round. All it takes is the majority of 8 state delegations to then sign nomination papers with Ryan’s (or anyone else’s)
name. I suggest downloading the rules from GOP and checking for yourself.
They can parachute in a candidate even with rule 40 in effect as it is written today.
“Ryan as the nominee would be an improvement.”
How would this be so? Ryan is the reason there is a Trump and Cruz. Get Trump over the 1237. It’s the last chance to save our country.
I cannot foresee any circumstance that would cause me to vote for prissy Paul Ryan. None.
He screwed all of us over here in Wisconsin, tell me again WHY I should even consider voting for him for anything. He is just a crooked at the rest of the GOPeeeeeeeeees.
I’d like him to vanish like a mirage.
