That failure was in getting the 2 state members on the rules committee. A significant failure, given the rules committee has the power to all but decide the nominee, and is a fairly small group with 2 delegates from each state.
Except for voters. That “front” seems fine.
“MICHIGAN? The story there was that a Trump/Kasich deal skunked Cruz.”
********************************************************************************
Right, like putting a Kasich loyalist delegate on the Convention’s Rules Committee is a good idea. He/She will ally with GOPe delegates on the rules committee so quick your head will spin. The GOPe/Kasich alliance’s first order of business would be to modify Rule 40 to allow additional nominees beyond Trump & Cruz.
Well based on the numbers no one will win based on the voters as no one will hit a majority.
Cruz will win by a combination of voters and delegates. He has a great game in both. #1 at working the delegate game and #2 at the voter game. That will equal a GOP nomination. As hated as he is in DC, he’s a pretty shrewd politician that apparently knows how to win and even defeat the biggest winner known in America. That is unless Trump gets sour grapes and backs the GOPe plan to back a person without 8 state wins. The only way that rule gets changed is if Trump or Cruz delegates authorize it.
That was the positions on the national committees, the delegates select two members of their delegation to go to Cleaveland and serve on the rules committee. There was a total of eight positions that Cruz delegates were going for, and Kasich’s campaign voted with Trump and blocked them from getting in.
I am tired of these tools spreading misinformation to work up Trump supporters to divide republicans.
It’s all over for Trump now! And this time I mean it!
Sorry, I don’t know what that means.
What happened in Michigan?
Is Trump really backing Kasich delegates? If so then the GOPe is playing Cruz and Trump against each other for their benefit.
Trump needs to hit 1237...if he doesn’t then Cruz is the nominee. Unless Trump backs GOPe plans to allow rule 40b changes. And if he does then he’s really GOPe bigtime.
So all this time of saying Cruz is GOPe was a ruse...Trump if he backs changes to rule 40b means he’s GOPe.
“Cruz will be the nominee”
You’re a fool if you believe that. Cruz is despised by the party elite just as much as Trump. Once they’ve used him to take out Trump he’ll be thrown aside like a piece of trash.
If Trump gets a majority on the rules committee, he could literally declare that no one under his amount of state wins is eligible to be nominated.
We need more reporting on exactly who has succeeded getting on the rules committee. The Michigan story is the first I heard they were even picking people for it yet.
It is a problem that takes care if itself. It creates Madam President.
Agreed. He acts like a celebrity contestant on some reality show instead of doing his homework and understand what he is volunteering himself for. Even on the issues, he isn't doing his homework. Sometimes, I think he is doing this just to out-bloomberg Bloomberg.
Cruz is the eunuch at the GOP orgy.
“Im as big a Trump fan as you can get, and this worries me. He just doesnt seem to be taking the whole Im running for President thing seriously.”
Well, that might be true, but the way the press jerks us around, who knows? I always go by my old man’s advice, believe none of what you hear, less of what you read, and be skeptical of your own lyin eyes.
If Trump doesn’t get 1237, he should win the second vote because he will have the largest support among the options. If the second vote goes to the runner-up, the Presidency goes to Hillary.
If it comes down to contested rounds of voting, I’d be down with Trump sabotaging the tedstablishment.
cruz is one of the worst persons to run for president in American history.
Months ago I and many others asserted that we need them both. - trump at the top and Cruz his veep.
For months I’ve avoided posting into the bile that is a trump or Cruz thread.
But it becomes clearer...trump has part of what’s needed and Cruz has the other parts. Do you think if Cruz was working for trump that trump’s campaign would be screwing this up so badly?
It may never happen but it would unite the two non-establishment candidates and their supporters.
Flame away.
