You know, if they were intent on building the darned thing, the only route that actually makes any sense whatsoever is straight down the 5. They could always add connecting routes later.
But of course that makes too much sense.

Way back when, Disney proposed building a Monorail right down the 5 Freeway from Orange County to L.A.

It would have run right down the middle using elevated Prefab Track so there would have been no Right of Way issues.

Would have been very cheap to build and maintain.

Woulda, coulda, shoulda...
