Which is what the GOP wanted all along. It's role is to be the minority opposition as the nation transitions into the new world order. The GOP can't lose, not even by being discredited and disbanded. It's members will inhabit a new vehicle, much as the "TEA Party movement" was co-opted by power brokers and charlatans.
I agree with most everything you say, by the way. I'm just considerably more cynical about the whole process. One gets that way as one ages and sees the radical divergence between "the way we say things work" and "the way things really work." I can point to many examples, serious examples, and yet the people go along as if nothing is wrong.
