Question: From our observations, Ted Cruz is receiving significant support from the Objectivist online community. Some say they support him because, while flawed, he's still the most principled pro-freedom candidate available. Others explicitly support him only because he's not Donald Trump. This is coming from a community that has historically identified religion as the gravest threat to the culture, to the point that key Objectivist intellectuals endorsed voting Democrat in 2004 and 2008. Yet now that the Republicans have a viable non-religious candidate, Trump has morphed into the new gravest threat to America.
The mental gymnastics we've seen to justify this position have been truly astounding and suggest some visceral emotion is driving the anti-Trump/pro-Cruz response. As long-time Objectivists ourselves, it's disturbing to us to see this coming from a community with a professed commitment to reason. What do you think is the root of this response to Trump, and what does it mean for the hope of turning the culture toward true commitment to reason?
Because Roger Stone is so well regarded. /s
Thank you for posting this.
Yes, he does.
Some say they support [Cruz] because, while flawed...

I didn’t know that some Cruz supporters think he is flawed, I thought his supporters think him quite saintly. Nice to know.
BraVO for that link, if some people could take their blinders off, they may find that the hatred of Trump is wildly misplaced. IMO.
Oh puhleease. Trump is a master abuser. He insults people for fun and profit.
The insults you are talking about are insults all republicans ALWAYS get from the left. ALWAYS. That does not excuse the abuse Trump dishes out to his opponents and their supporters.
Mark Levin had said over and over he would vote Trump in the general should Trump get the nomination. That wasn’t enough for Team Trashy Tabloid Trump. He dragged out 2 year old smears from the left to use on Levin as punishment for not supporting him in the primary.
Look at the smears on Beck, Fields, Kelly, Fiorina, and on and on. Too many to name. Trump uses intimidation tactics like some sort of mobster. He is an abuser and in high office, would be an abuse of power waiting to happen.
Smart people flee abusers; they don’t return to them for more abuse.
Conservatives should not return evil for evil. Stand. Fight. Tell the truth. Be principled. But don’t act like the abusers on the left if you want my support.
Too bad we don’t choose nominees by which side posts the most photoshopped taunts, Trump would win hands down.
Sorry, that may work in the Republican Primary if you have Loyalty to another Candidate, but in the General Election it is completely irrational.
I would Vote for my Dog over any DemoccRat.
Even if you think Trump is a “_____” (fill in blank), he would make a better President than Bernie, Hillary, Fauxahaontis, Slow Joe Biden or any other America hating so called Progressive.
Cruz people can’t complain about Stone when Glenn Beck is in their camp.
I’m not complaining - the writer of this article is.
Mark Levin blame every action committed by Stones on Trump. This is illogical. Under this logic, we should reject Cruz because of Glenn Beck
Donald Trump (not personally in need of forgiveness) the savior of Christianity in America.
Horse pucky, I don’t support Trump because he is a populist without a clue how stuff works and I am tired of living through this for the last 7 years.
I thought Trump was famous for the "deal". If he wins the nomination Trump will be dealing very quickly.
