Trump convention manager (Manafort): 'Winning isn't enough'
CNN ^ | 4/8/2016 | Julia Manchester

Posted on 04/08/2016 8:00:52 AM PDT by GilGil

Manafort joins the Trump campaign as a contested Republican convention becomes more likely. Trump suffered a critical loss to Texas Sen. Ted Cruz Tuesday in the Wisconsin primary. However, the strategist says he is confident the Cruz campaign will hit a rough patch, allowing Trump to win the 1,237 delegates needed to win the nomination outright.

"Utah and New York are two different states," he said. "By the time we get to California, the momentum is going to be clear, and Ted Cruz's path to victory will be in shambles."

If your guy is shoring up your delegates or talking with unbound ones it’s not stealing imo.

Exactly. Or trying to get your own supporters selected to be delegates where there are contests on the state or district level.

Trump fans call all of that "stealing."

Not being a lifelong pol, Trump thought, naively perhaps, that if he won the most states and votes the GOP would honor the will of the voters. He has discovered differently, and is adjusting to the changing situation.

He didn't understand the rules that require a majority victory. That's to his own fault, not the fault of anyone else for lacking "honor."

Win or go home. No whining. Majority rules.

Cruz advocates have been criticizing Trump for not having a plan to get unbound delegates. Now he has one, and they’re criticizing him for having one.

Just wondering if he is planning to steal any delegate or if he will promise to not attempt to persuade any delegates to vote for him except those bound to him on the first ballot.

It can not be "stealing" if one guy prepares to have loyal delegates, but not be "stealing" when the other guy does the same thing. Either admit Cruz is not "stealing" or admit that Trump is planning to "steal" as well.

You better believe it.

The Bronx cheer will give some butt-hurt to Cartel Cruz, and the dry spell includes nice leads by TRUMP in every single upcoming state primary, with days and days for TRUMP to blow the doors off in these states to strengthen his delegates and add eager wannabe Trump delegates some tools to make the cut.

Factor in the Big Fish, Manafort, and we’ve got ourselves a street fight going we can win, congressional district by congressional district.

Cruz raiding these so called “unpledged delegates” is a myth. No unpledged delegate can technically even be registered as a Cruz delegate until the National Convention.
These guys arrive in the unpledged status and stay that way until they vote. That is my understanding.

TRUMP can possibly even un-do these delegates between now and the Convention, peel them off from Cruz, in the same manner that Cruz peeled them off from the now felled candidates no longer in the race.

Well that’s true but Trump could have done a lot better in WI IMO if he had first not trashed Walker and second battered the airwaves with negative Cruz ads. Its a sad fact that negative advertising does work especially in the last two weeks before a vote. He did not spend enough money.

As I watch Manafort I hear the theme song of the Godfather in the background. Wonder why!

Over active imagination? Preconceived bias?

This man has an impressive voice! I can see the similarity already between TRUMP and Manafort for “making the deal”, with brain power and sheer force of personality.

“The Enforcer”.

YOU said it, Gil.

It’s already started in the Bronx. Get ready for the Cruz Crumble!!

Hope the media doesn’t take up your opinion and go after Manafort, now. lol!

Cruz will be sue happy enough as it is, when TRUMP breaks the 1237 to over 1300.

Absolutely. There’s a YUGE difference. When your guy does something, it’s tough. When the other guy does something, it’s dirty. You and your ilk are crystal clear.

I sure hope he gets a handle on the voter fraud that has already been used against Trump. Document, expose, and prosecute those responsible for it now.

Ok, nothing to worry about then. No whining if he doesn’t and his lack of plan B preparations means he loses.

As long as Cruz supporters don’t whine when Cruz’s new besties in the GOPe elbow him out for their own designated loser.

Great to finally see Paul Manafort speak. Cannot wait for him to “make sure” Cruz hits a rough patch. It’s way past time that somebody puts a stop to his treachery, as it seems nothing sticks to him. Hopefully, Manafort will see to it that those days come to an end. Manafort’s bold declaration that Mr. Trump will in fact have the necessary delegates by June 7 makes me feel better.
Most are predicting, too, that Cruz will be crushed in NY and go 0-for-5 on April 26. Once this month’s contests are in the books, I sincerely hope Mr. Trump will regain sufficient momentum that will enable him to rack up formidable margins in CA’s 54 CDs to reach 1237 and secure the first ballot nomination.
Paul Manafort’s confidence is the clarion call Trumpsters like me needed to hear. Cruz’ days of dirty deeds are numbered!! Buckle up, Trump Train!!
