Donald Trump plans to skip attending Saturdays Colorado Republican State Convention at the Broadmoor World Arena in Colorado Springs.
Colorado State Republican Party Chairman Steve House told The Denver Post Wednesday that while discussions were happening for a Trump appearance, the plans ultimately collapsed.
He will not be attending, Kyle Kohli, communications director for the state GOP told The Post.
The state party will be electing 13 delegates to send to the Republican National Convention. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz managed to win six delegates already from Colorado.

Waste of time when the Colorado Politburo selects the delegates.
Trump only does well in states where people get to vote.
He is not going win any delegates there anyway. Another example of his team not understanding the process of winning the nomination.
He’s a-FRAID!!@!!!!
while discussions were happening for a Trump appearance, the plans ultimately collapsed...when he told the Trump campaign they were only hoping he'd show up so they could give him no votes.
Guess he didn’t like the fact that among those running for Nat’l Delegate Cruz has a 9 to 2 ratio of pledged delegates over him?
If you’d like some facts to go with your hyperbole, there are over 8,000 Delegates and Alternates, selecting among 605 candidates to seat 13 Delegates and 13 Alternates.
Those 8000 Delegate were each elected at lower assemblies.
If you believe those 8000 are bought and paid for, that’s your problem, but its not reality.
You're not from CO are you? Otherwise you wouldn't make such a foolish statement.
The remaining delegates?
Even chance they get assigned to Bernie.
That's how screwed up the republicans have managed to make things here.
Another example of anti-Trump wishful thinking. His team understands the process quite well. A paltry number of delegates are up for grabs, and the process is biased against him. They know this perfectly well, so they choose to spend his time on a more productive activity.
If Trump will only do well where people vote, then he’ll lose large.
The people don’t vote at the convention; delegates do.
And the “politburo”, as you say, pick delegates in most places.
The convention is going to be full of party insiders. That’s the whole purpose of a convention.
No. If Trump wants to stay viable after round one, every delegate counts. He has to contest here. Can he win without those particular delegates? Sure. But he won’t win if he blows off contesting for delegates just because the insiders will have a say.
Ted Cruz..... picking up the crumbs, again.
Trump only does well where democrats can vote in the primaries.
Oh well. This election is headed to the House of Representatives since we are going to have Trump and Bernie as 3rd party. And you are going to have a democratic house because GOPe chose to blow itself up.
As noted above, every candidate has limited resources, and has to pick and choose which delegatations and delegates to woo. He doesn't have to contest everywhere, and as you concede, he can win without personally wooing Colorado delegates this weekend.
More productive? Like Tweeting?
The reason he's not going is he's extremely unpopular in Colorado and is likely to garner 0 delegates.
It’s a bullcrap, anachronistic, method. We started primaries in 1910 and 1912 to end smoke filled rooms. It’s been over a hundred years. The parties’ position (not platform but sanctity) is enshrined in much local, state and federal law. Given all those protections, promoting anything un-democratic is baloney.
Sometimes a movement recruits people such as pro-life, Tea Party, NRA etc.
Participating in the process is time consuming and at your personal cost. At the local level, the cost is minimal but grows at higher levels. I never attended a National Convention because the cost is very very high. My point, I would never take orders from party bosses on who I would support because it was MY TIME and MY Money. In fact, my experience was that the delegates are often at odds with the leadership.
So the TRUMP people can imagine all they want of a VAST Conspiracy to deny Trump the nomination but the reality it has thus far failed in the process and still does not grasp how party politics work (even though Trump chose to run as a Republican and not Independent).
Just an hour ago on MSNBC, a Trump spokesman, on the topic of Cruz’ efforts in up state NY, ridiculed Cruz for doing well in “places where nobody lives”. So, I guess we can infer that that is also the attitude of the Trump campaign about Colorado. I guess nobody lives there. I’d rather spend time with the people in “fly over country” any day over those arrogant, obnoxious people who apparently inhabit NYC.
People criticize Cruz over his NY values comment but, meanwhile, the Trump campaign keeps insulting people in “fly over” territory with all the gusto of liberal east coast democrats.
