What folks dont always realize, is that even immigrants are down on the illegal portion of immigration.
This is true, but it gets a bit more complicated. Many of the legal Mexicans and other Latinos (outside of Puerto Ricans) have close friends and family members who are illegal aliens. So, even if they themselves are inclined in principle to be hardliners in the abstract, it can quickly become more ambivalent. And once you see words like "homophobic" thrown into the spiel, we are getting outside of the realm of regular immigrant folks who are picking a candidate and into the realm of leftist apparatchiks.
It sort of reminds me of when Bill Richardson forgot his party orthodoxy during a debate and answered that be a homosexual was a choice, but corrected himself when it was suggested to him that he might want to reconsider his response.

I don’t have a big beef against your comments. I don’t know the dynamics of that area, and you may be spot on.
I appreciate the response.

(Facing Trump nomination inevitability, folks are now openly trying to help Hillary destroy him.)
