We are paying an income tax on products we export: illegal. And we import labor in forms of illegal aliens without charging them a tax sending the money overseas.

If wire transfers are stopped, Mexican illegals will find any number of ways to easily send cash back home -- pay U.S. citizens to act as fronts, send cash, send money orders, use PayPal, etc, etc, etc.

personally, I am in love with the idea of making US sanctuary cities help pay for the wall too.

I thought he was going to deport htem. Sounds like he is willing to let them stay.

According to sundance, Trump could crap on a sidewalk and he’d call it a “masterpiece”.

I don’t think it would work but it does look like there is a system in place to implement it. Maybe he could pull it off.

Someone should look to see how well this system stopped money from flowing to Cuba and how much money it raised if any.

If President Trump prohibits wire transfers to Mexico, a business in Canada will step in to provide the same service.

Instead of transferring money directly to Mexico, a someone would send the money to the Canadian company and they would, for a small fee, send the money to Mexico.

Cruz solution is to give them teddy bears.

I was talking to one of the biggest Trump fans I know In Real Life, and she said the plan sounded idiotic, or something like that.

I knew it was something like this. Technically Mexico isn’t paying for it, but them and their citizens won’ tbe getting quite as much.
I am good with this plan.

Of course Mexico can be made to pay for the wall.. 100%. This was never a hard nut to crack, but immediately after Trump said that it WOULD happen, the so-called intelligentsia laughed. . Thinking... Can’t remember the last time I heard anyone laugh about this.

I like the idea. In fact, I proposed something a lot like it here, not long ago.

There is a Western Union service at the local supermarket, and around the first of the month there will be a line of people there waiting to send money to parts unknown. I’ve seen as many as 10 people waiting in line to send money.

The article states that Mexico benefits from these remittences to the tune of $25 billion per year. And that is money lost to the U.S. economy forever.

Slap a tax on these money shipments out of the country? And use that tax money to build the wall? Sounds good to me!

The Money Services Compliance Affidavit simply requires the sender present valid ID and fill out a form prior to the transfer which identifies the sender as a legally authorized entity within the U.S.

Well that will certainly stop them.

Even a 4% surcharge on remittances (our initial thoughts on the issue) would net the U.S. Treasury approximately $1 billion per year.

There are more than 1M US expats in Mexico and I expect a good number receive money sent from the US. Do we really want a 4% tax on that plus all the money sent to charitable organizations, missionaries, etc. working in Mexico?

This idea wasn't thought through.
