A university student was threatened with being thrown out of a meeting after being accused of violating safe space rules - by raising her hand. Imogen Wilson, the vice-president for academic affairs at Edinburgh University Students Association (EUSA), spoke out against safe space rules becoming a tool for the hard left to use when they disagree with people, following the incident last week. Ms Wilson, 22, was subject to a safe space complaint over her supposedly inappropriate hand gestures during a student council meeting. Safe space is essential for us to have a debate where everyone can speak, but it cant become a tool for the hard left to use when they disagree with people. Imogen Wilson According to the associations rules, student council meetings should be held in a safe space environment, defined as a space which is welcoming and safe and includes the prohibition of discriminatory language and actions. This includes refraining from hand gestures which denote disagreement, or in any other way indicating disagreement with a point or points being made. Disagreements should only be evident through the normal course of debate, it says. Ms Wilson said she raised her arms in disagreement after being accused by another speaker of failing to respond to an open letter, despite in fact having made efforts to contact the letters authors. A complaint was made against Ms Wilson, who was then subjected to a vote on whether she should be removed from the room. Although the vote went in her favour, with 18 people voting to remove her and 33 voting for her to be allowed to remain, she was later threatened with another complaint after shaking her head while someone was speaking.

Just a fancy way of eliminating free speech.
We need De Niro to re-shoot the scene from “Scent of a Woman” to confront these pussy/NAZI dumbasses.
Student accused of violating university ‘safe space’ by raising her AK47 and wiping out every PC prick in sight.
Maybe you should go home.
Um, Pacino, maybe?
Was it? Ha, always get those two mixed up like Dafoe and Walken.
I wonder if they voted by a raise of hands.
In today’s world, if you can successfully negotiate a college degree, then the highly developed level of deceit, lying, lack of integrity, lack of morals, etc. should serve in good stead on any “reality” show.
Her hand was in her space. What are they moaning about?
In todays world, if you can successfully negotiate a college degree, then theOr in Congress.

No hand gestures allowed? What if Italy had this silly rule— how would that work?
We need to understand there are an increasing number of people who are mentally ill. I am not joking. I have started to questions peoples sanity with a smile and a shake of my head. It drives them nuttier than what they were before. Truth hurts apparently.
We need to know what college administrators support this stuff and who while in college used there position on student councils to take action like this. theses students that shut down free speech should have to worry about it being brought up if they ever run for public office.
They want no push back so we all should bury them in rubble
It should be brought up if they ever try to find a job.
Those that voted to remove her should have been handed a “safe space” violation.
I am not vindictive. I just don’t want theses people to get anywhere politically. if they get a job as a janitor or in any place they are not making decisions that impact people I don’t mind them working.
Her gesture was in disagreement. If she had given an approving gesture, I’m sure there would have been no problem. Who, from this generation, is going to be strong enough to lead?
