Heres a simple question that desperately needs an answer.
Donald Trump won the Arizona primary in a landslide, 47.1 percent to Ted Cruzs 24.9 percent, giving the GOP front-runner all 58 of that winner-take-all states delegates.
Right now, the Cruz campaign is engaged in a furious on-the-ground campaign in Arizona and in other states won by Trump, including Louisiana, Georgia and Tennessee to convert Trump delegates into Cruz delegates on a second ballot, should there be a contested GOP convention this summer.
The question is: Is this moral?
Trump calls it crooked as hell. But lets back up a little.
As the Washington Examiner reported Monday, in a story headlined Cruz snaring Trumps Arizona delegates and posted in the lead position of the Drudge Report:
Sen. Ted Cruz is out-hustling Donald Trump and looks set to ensure many Arizona delegates will defect to him in a convention floor fight.
The Texas senator, who ever since Iowa has played a stealthy ground game in contrast to Trumps chaotic populism, is taking steps to snatch the Republican presidential nomination from The Donald at the convention in July.
The New York businessman easily won last months Arizona primary taking 47 percent to Cruzs 25 percent, scooping up all 58 of the states delegates. Thats nearly 5 percent of the 1,237 Trump needs for the nomination, and theyre tied to him on the first ballot.
But Cruz, exploiting deep opposition to Trump among grass-roots Republicans, has been far more active in Arizona than Trump, insiders say. Hes recruiting candidates for the available 55 delegate slots, that along with the other three delegate positions filled by party leaders, would be allowed to vote for him in a multi-ballot contested convention.

Yep.
he's stealing from me....
he stealing my vote.
you're in agreement in stealing my vote from me
so what do you think I think of you right now and your rationalization of stealing my and other voters vote?
And the votes of other voters just because they voted someway you didn't like?
all all conservative talk about it's a republic not a democracy
know what the Republic means? we elect representatives
Republic= Representative
it's called representative government for a reason
the voters elect representatives to represent their interest
So to have someone come by after and try and solicit those elected representatives that are supposed to represent the people that elected them to be the unfaithful to those voters
well that's THE problem with the country right now isn't
so what makes you think that once he gets in he's going to represent YOUR interest if it doesn't align with HIS interest?
you and him have already shown how much respect you both have for representative government and the voters that elect them
Them so don't cry when he does it to that Cruz voter... same ol GOPe... snake the people that elected you... there's no honor among thieves
Cruz's ethics are showing
Now that's an interesting rationalization especially in place like Arizona that was OVERWHELMINGLY in support of Trump
Trying to define the voters as not being “grass roots makes it "moral" to subvert the vote ”?
OP was apoplectic about Carson’s religion a few months ago. When Carson supported Trump, Carson was suddenly Mr. Dreamboat.
Not all Trump supporters are trumptards. But many are guilty of trumptardiness.
You mean the Hotelier, builder, who also does a lot of “good works” such as fixing the Wollman Rink.
Don’t be ridiculous. It’s smart.
Donald would do it but he just ain’t that smart.
All he can do is sit back and whine.
Hes a phony, hes all about self,...
He proves that with his tithing.
Again, I don’t have a problem if people don’t tithe. I just prefer they not act so damned sanctimonious. It makes them look like a hypocrite.
The self-righteous hypocrite is the one who is seeking to derive morality out of a political process.
Let's not pretend that Trump supporters haven't abandoned morality for the sake of putting salve on their wounds in the form of policy prescriptions.
Trump supporters abandoned the high ground of morality when they proclaimed, "I don't care about that as long as I get x, y and z.
I sincerely doubt that there’s anything in politics that is moral. Of course all of these machinations rely on the fact that Trump doesn’t get to 1237 delegates. If he does, all this is wasted time because he gets it on the first ballot.
“Just reading a few pages into Saul Alinskys leftist playbook, Rules for Radicals, one encounters repeated confirmation that the very heart of radical change is keeping the populace angry, encouraging their grievances, stoking their resentments, and making sure they are continually upset. That is the primary psychological dynamic of community organizing and since 2009 America has been led by a community organizer in chief and longtime master practitioner and instructor in Alinskys Far-Left agitation methods.”

Stoke’em Donald! Stoke’em! You, too, BFAC. LOL
remember rule #5...Ridicule is mans most potent weapon. There is no defense. Its irrational. Its infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions. (Pretty crude, rude and mean, huh? They want to create anger and fear.)
Trump fans keep using the phrase “The will of the people” - I do not think that means what you think it means.
I would love to see a one on one runoff but that won’t happen. If no one gets to 1237 the actual will of the people can’t be calculated. The majority voted for someone else.
The closest we will get to a runoff is second, and possibly more ballot at the convention. This isn’t anything new.
Please understand, your arguments mirror those of Gore’s fan club in 2000. They were wrong and you are too.
Wishful thinking.
Trump is losing votes that he thought he won because he didn’t look at the rule book and he didn’t have a good team.
He doesn’t have a good team because he doesn’t hire anyone smarter than he is so where does that leave him on the gene pool.
Facts mean less than NOTHING to Cruz supporters; sadly.
TalenTED.
I will not personally attack a fellow Freeper.
“Cruz should want the WILL OF THE PEOPLE.
Clearly, he doesnt give a flip about what the people want.”
So he’s basically like the rest of the GOPe! “Screw the populace, because my being president at all costs is more important that being moral!”
It takes lawyers to come up with crap like this. Yep! Just what the Founders intended.
“...I simply want to know if you really believe overturning the crystal clear will of Arizona (and other states’) voters is a moral thing in pursuit of the presidency”
**************************************************************************
Actually, what’s “crystal clear” is that many Trumpsters don’t understand what’s going on in this delegate selection process. Would it have been the “moral thing” for the Cruz folks to simply let the GOPe name GOPe loyalists as the delegates? That’s what would have happened in the absence of the Cruz efforts, because the Trumpsters sure as hell were not working effectively to have THEIR folks selected as delegates. GOPe loyalist delegates would NEVER vote for a non-establishment candidate (e.g., Trump or Cruz) after the point where they were no longer “bound”. Cruz loyalist delegates WOULD continue to NOT move to a GOPe candidate parachuted in.
So WHINE LESS & WORK MORE ON GETTING TRUMP DELEGATES NAMED. Stop acting like “victims”.
They are supposed to represent the voters, not their own wallets. Or the favors they were promised or hope for from the GOPe.
Sadly, so. :-(
