After the dust settled on the Tesla Model 3 jamboree, preorder deposits approached $300 million, topping up Elon Musk's capex war-chest. His new electric car's reviews are insanely great, but some commentators are wondering if it's really an elaborate Ponzi scheme.

I don’t either except to say people eat whatever they are fed these days.
350,000,000 people in China and India shuffling their feet across carpet to charge super-capacitors.
Yeah, and he guts them and plucks them, too! 8^)
Powered by coal, or frack gas. As long as it has a dongle cord of some sort that looks like USB it must be good. Plug in your I-Puke and buzz around the neighborhood. No harm there. Greeeen.
Well, Obama and Hillary have supporters to.
Don’t believe everything you read. Batteries even LIon are sensitive to how far they are run down, and how fully they are charged. Weather has even a bigger impact. Sub Freezing temperatures will knock more than 50% off the battery even when new.
The rule is generally recharge between 80 and 40 pct for best life. Even so, after 3 years you’ve probably used about 50% of the battery, charges lasting less and less and mileage dwindling. I’m guessing but there will be some fine print involved in the batter.
Check again, they moved it to the not recommended list.
maybe but you can easily see how the executives of every big car company on the planet are going to be demanding that their engineers step up their electric car game.
The tesla’s pre orders are just that astounding.
Fracking produced real dollars to back up the feds printing fake dollars during Obama’s term as president.
The next president is going to preside over a revolution in cars and the next revolution in the energy business.
I was chastised by another Freeper when I asked that on another thread. he seems to believe they will only be charged at night when the demand is down,Oh, and the cars will only be purchased by homeowners who would have a place to charge them because, and I found this hilarious, people who live in apartments would never spend 35K on a vehicle instead of buying a home. I knew then that any further discourse with them was pointless because they lived in an alternate reality.

Until they can make an electric vehicle battery that is smaller than those currently used, has 10 times the capacity, and recharges instantly, electric cars are a joke.
So we can only charge the cars in off-peak hours?
(the cost of base-load electricity is a fraction of peak-load generation costs). “
Putting 100 million cars on charge at the same time will have no effect, right?
And the grid will handle 100 million cars all charging at once? Not a chance.
“I believe the company is a house of welfare mirrors. Most people dont want or can afford one.”
35k isn’t that high for a car these days. Especially if your gas bill goes way down. I can already count 4 friends that reserved one.
Not for me since I like long trips to remote areas. But for people that stay in cities, it seems great
Please re-read my post.
gas cars have around 300 miles range
tesla model 3 have around 215 miles range
why you holding electric cars to a higher standard than gas cars?
I don’t care about the winner but really but I do think that the competition that’s coming in the next decade between internal combustion, electric, and even fuel cell cars will make for another golden age of cars not seen since the 1950’s and 60’s.
