Cruz doesn't have a majority of voters.

No candidate has a majority of voters, including Trump. That is why we are having this discussion. If any candidate had been able to muster a majority of voters then he would have locked in the nomination by now. Now it is only a question of whether any of the candidates will be able to win a majority of delegates without a majority of voters.

If no candidate wins a majority of delegates by the convention, then the nomination will go to whichever one of the candidates (without a majority of voters) who is able to win a majority of the delegates over from the other candidates (also without a majority of voters).

Trump supporters keep arguing that as long as Trump goes into the convention with a plurality delegate lead (no mater how small of a plurality it may be at the time) then it will be stealing the election if the delegates pledged to all of the other candidates do not immediately pledge their fealty to Trump.

So what if Cruz manages to take a plurality lead away from Trump before the convention? Will it be stealing the election if the delegates pledge to all of the other candidates do not immediately pledge their fealty to Cruz? Of course not! Well guess what? The same thing applies to Trump.

I’m still curious about your answer Bubba.

What states would Cruz deliver in November to win the GE?

Isn’t the Presidential Election the final prize?

It’s not about the most Conservative dude sitting by himself in the bayou eating craw-daddies reading green eggs ‘n ham November ninth.

It’s not about who can snatch the most delegates under the table.

It’s about who will win the 2016 Election.

And why do think that the DNC will not use Cruz’s Canadian birth as a tool against him? You know they will, and rightfully so.

Add his primary wins up and convert to electoral votes.

Granted, that he’d pick up a few Southern states, but not much else.

We’d be set-up for an embarrassing slaughter. He is not a winner, but a 2nd & 3rd place loser. With qualifying issues and tabloid infidelity issues. Either one or both will destroy his candidacy.

A candidate has always had to win a majority of delegates to get the nomination. The rule that Romney delegates pushed through in 2012 increased the number of states that a candidate had to win (from five to eight states) in order to be eligible to be nominated.

This year, no one candidate will control a majority of the delegates and be able to unilaterally push through any rules; however, Trump and Cruz combined will control nearly all of the delegates. The only way that the rule gets changed this year to lower the eligibility threshold will be if a most of Trump's and Cruz's delegates vote for it. Since it would not be in the interest of either campaign to open up the floor to more eligible candidates, I don't see any way that the eligibility rule gets changed.

So very true BGS - and I know now that you are beating a dead horse with the cruzettes here. See no evil, hear no evil...blah blah blah

Cruz is the Charlie Sheen of this race! ‘Winnnnnnin’ aka losing!

What I can’t grasp is the stone cold idiocy of getting in bed with the GOPe, and the cruzettes support that! How does that work in the real world? I mean honestly, how does that work?

They naively believe 1. Cruz will win in a contested convention, totally ignorant of the reality of their little chosen one is being used. 2. IF he did win, that he could beat hillary and 3. IF he did beat her, what changes??
NOTHING! We’ll get amnesty, we’ll be saddled with millions of illegals already here, millions more to come along with H1B’s.

All to ‘stick it’ to Trump? Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face - totally ignorant to reality!!!

If Ted Cruz had any integrity he would not be trying to pack Trump delegations with stealth Cruz supporters.

<><><>

I’m amazed the GOP has given Ted the privilege of doing this while not allowing Donald to do the same thing.

Oh wait.

Pretty obvious bought and paid for career politician Ted Cruz is the GOPe’s guy to now. He certainly wasn’t “anti-establishment” on TPA when he campaigned with Ryan to pass it. The Ryan convention stuff is just a smokescreen, IMO. The real give away is how much time “conservative” media invests on falsely equating Cruzman Sachs and Trump.

Trump has 21 states w 6,020,000 winning votes.
Cruz has 10 states w 1,724,000 winning votes.

Cruz lost the entire South. He did not win a single district in Ohio or Florida. He lost Virginia. He would be defeated again by larger %’s in the battleground states. While all that would be happening, the DNC would be trying to remove him from each and every state ballot as an unqualified candidate.

He has ZERO cross-over appeal for dems or indies.
He is not a winning candidate for the GE.
He is the designated spoiler at the convention or designated loser to Hellary.

Great work. Powerful indictment of TPA Teddy Cruz and his total non viability in the general. He is the worst national candidate in generations and it is not even close.

The problem is that no one has won the majority of the votes or even come close. So far, Trump has won a 37% plurality of votes, which was enough to get him a plurality of the delegates when the vote was split between a dozen candidates.

You're aware that Trump is going to blow past Mittens' 2012 primary vote total like Mitt the Zitt was standing still, aren't you?

In 42 primary victories, Mittens had 10 million votes. In 21 primary victories [about halfway], Trump has 7.5 million votes.

Cruz needs to overcome all these obstacles to win:

1. Deny Trump enough delegates to reach 1237.

2. Cajole, persuade, bribe enough delegates to his side.

3. Convince the GOPe that he is their man rather than Romney/Ryan.

4. Win every case the DNC files to remove him as an unqualified candidate.

5. Halt speculation regarding his affairs with a transparent statement of denial

6. Win important key battleground states where he lost very badly.

7. Win Southern states where he has not been well received.

8. Attack his opponent with a vengeance, something he is incapable of doing effectively.

And Cruz has to do all that while being carpet bombed by the MSM and Dems 24/7 for months on end. Not going to happen. Ted Cruz will never be POTUS.

And yet, nearly every national poll conducted in the past year shows Trump losing to Hillary. The only question is how badly he will lose to Hillary.

Ah, jeez, not this "Trump loses to Hillary" garbage again.

After Trump gets done with Hillary, she's gonna ENVY Saint Pancake of the Bulldozer.

Ted got a little taste from one of the unengaged secondary batteries on the Media DeathStar this last week.

The main armament will make a burnt greasy spot out of him in nothing flat.

It is a pre-2008 change. It ended in the dying days of the cigar room back dealing. When conventions were reduced to infomercials for the likes of dole, McCain, Romney.
