New York Times ^ | April 1, 2016 | By LARRY BUCHANAN and ALICIA PARLAPIANO

The rules for how Republican delegates are selected — which differ in every state — could end up turning votes for one candidate into delegates who will support another candidate at the convention. See article for its entirety.

Trump..........................................And Florida 1,079,741

Hilarious that Trump got double the votes in FL alone of all the Cruz “victories” to date outside TX. Pretty clear there is only one national candidate in this race and it’s Donald J. Trump.

No, Cruz acts like a badger or raccoon that steals the food from others because he is too pathetic to earn his own.

He takes what he has not rightfully earned.

Once again, Ted has proven to be a religious hypocrite. <-—Epic Fail.

Of course, I think the voters should decide, not some handpicked people.

After the first vote, delegates must be free to vote for any eligible candidate. Otherwise, there would be a permanent deadlock. The problem is that the Cruz campaign is doing a much better job on the ground in each state making sure that Cruz supporters are selected as delegates.

According to Trump supporters, if any delegates that were pledged to Trump jump ship and vote for another candidate after the first vote, they are stealing the election from Trump.

On the other hand, if any delegates that were pledged to candidates other than Trump refuse to jump ship and vote for Trump after the first vote, they too are stealing the election from Trump.

Basically, if any of the delegates do not see the error of their ways and pledge their fealty to Trump, they are stealing the election from Trump.

So far, Trump has won approximately 37% of the votes cast. It is a very vocal and enthusiastic 37% and many have said that they will refuse to vote for anyone else. Meanwhile, most of the 63% of Republican voters that voted for someone other than Trump are refusing to come around and support Trump and many have said that they will refuse to ever vote for Trump.

So basically we are screwed and can look forward to at least 4 years of President Hillary, unless the pissed-off Republicans that refuse to vote for whoever gets the Republican nomination are substantially outnumbered by the pissed-off Bernie Sanders supporters that refuse to vote for Hillary.

If Cruz is the nominee, I won’t be voting for him. Especially since he can’t win without cheating. If our votes don’t count, then what’s the point of holding primaries? I’m done with the Republican party.

If Ted Cruz had any integrity he would not be trying to pack Trump delegations with stealth Cruz supporters.

<><><>

I’m amazed the GOP has given Ted the privilege of doing this while not allowing Donald to do the same thing.

Oh wait.

So the 37% of Republican voters who voted for Trump must count, but the 63% of Republican voters who voted for someone else must be ignored (unless they see the error of their ways and vote for Trump).

I’m done with the Republican party.

Bye.

Some delegates are bound through the second vote. Florida’s 99 are bound through the third vote. One or two or bound to a 2/3 majority change rule.

Trump has 21 states w 6,020,000 winning votes.
Cruz has 10 states w 1,724,000 winning votes.

Cruz lost the entire South. He did not win a single district in Ohio or Florida. He lost Virginia. He would be defeated again by larger %’s in the battleground states. While all that would be happening, the DNC would be trying to remove him from each and every state ballot as an unqualified candidate.

He has ZERO cross-over appeal for dems or indies.
He is not a winning candidate for the GE.
He is the designated spoiler at the convention or designated loser to Hellary.

So you’re saying that the guy who wins the majority of the votes as an individual shouldn’t be the nominee. I guess you’ve felt this way in other primary seasons, right?

If the booger eating loser that you support is the nominee, enjoy the epic defeat he’ll suffer in November. And good luck in your support of the Vichy party. They’ve accomplished so much against Soetero, haven’t they? I bet you’re gonna love watching them fold against the witch, too.

The problem is that no one has won the majority of the votes or even come close. So far, Trump has won a 37% plurality of votes, which was enough to get him a plurality of the delegates when the vote was split between a dozen candidates.

If Trump could win a majority of the vote or even a majority of the delegates we would not be having this discussion.

Florida is a tough state for any republican to win anymore due to the influx of Northerners. Cruz did not win a single CD. Trump is the only one of the original 17 who could win those 29 Electoral votes in the GE. Lots of Northerners love Trump, especially ones

If Ted won ND<SD<MT<WY<ID<ME<AK and Utah, he would win less electoral votes than Trump. And Texas will be won by whomever is the Republican candidate. So exactly what does Ted bring to the table in November?

Hillary is a repugnant candidate and should be an unelectable. The fact that she is losing Democrat primaries to a 74 year old, white, Socialist Senator from a small, almost entirely white state, who never even ran as a Democrat before, is proof that even the Democrats want to vote for someone other than Hillary.

And yet, nearly every national poll conducted in the past year shows Trump losing to Hillary. The only question is how badly he will lose to Hillary.

Trump is the only candidate in the U.S. that is hated and reviled even more than Hillary.

But the 37% of Republican voters that have voted for Trump are very loud and enthusiastic, so that's all that matters.

A poll from April is not definitive of how someone will vote in November. There are also discrepancies in polling that suggest some pollsters deliberately want to control or manipulate the outcome of the results.

The crowds that have mobilized and waited for several hours to hear Trump is a very strong sign of popularity and support. His appeal is trans-regional.
See post #25.

If Ted was not from Texas, he would have less than 1/2 million winning votes.
His lack of popularity among voters should not be overridden by a handful of delegates.

If states were willing to uphold the will of the people (like California), Cruz would have withdrawn from the race last month.

In a race where the winning candidate gets to select his delegates, Cruz loses.
His only chance of survivability is undermining the will of the people.

Instead of “We the People” we now witness “We the Delegates.”

why bother with voting primaries when the GOPe can nullify voters if the outcome is not GOPe approved?

Cruz has ZERO path to 270 Electoral Votes. Totally non competitive in the battleground states.

Cruz knows that nobody likes Senator Green Eggs & Ham and and that is why he’s trying to morph his campaign into a referendum on the Constitution. How could you vote against the Constitution? /sarcasm

Nope. And neither is the fact that Trump's supporters are louder and more enthusiastic than other candidates' supporters.

I am old enough to remember back in 1968, when crowds of McGovern supporters were incredibly loud and enthusiastic. And no, I am not comparing Trump to McGovern. I am just pointing out that loud and enthusiastic means very little unless there are enough of you to make a majority of voters.

Cruz doesn't have a majority of voters.

Bubba,

Address the issue of Cruz’s lack of votes and support.

Wyoming.....620
Virgin Isl......200
Alaska..... 8,400
Maine...... 8,500
Kansas... 35,000
Iowa...... 52,000
Idaho....100,000
Utah.....122,000
Okie.....158,000
Cruz’s total of 485,000 votes equal the population of Tulsa, OK!
If it wasn’t for Texas, he’d have nothing but a pile of beans!
Not to be confused with “spilling the beans,on Heidi!” ; o )

Where will Cruz win? Which battleground state?

Enquiring minds would like to know.
