Based on current delegate counts and poll numbers Ted Cruz will be mathematically unable to reach the delegate count required for him to win the Republican Presidential nomination. By the end April it will be clear that Ted Cruz has no chance of reaching the 1,237 delegates needed to win the nomination.
Lots of great stories about Secret Service trying to keep track of the Ford children.
What exactly does it mean to "act presidential"? You mean like Obama, Bill Clinton, LBJ, or JFK? Forget about appearances and image, these a$$holes didn't act like Presidents. They were slime balls committing all kinds of personal and official offenses. One was impeached and another should have been. They shamed the office. What has Trump done compared to them? Or compared to Hillary who should be in jail?
Trump is not a politician. He does not act or speak like one. It is one of the reasons for his popularity. He will not allow people to attack him without responding. Trump has a name recognition of 92 compared to Hillary's 94. No one else in the field comes close. Why? Trump is a celebrity who has been in people's homes for 14 years as a TV persona. They think they know him. The political consultants are horrified yet Trump continues to win.
Trump can't unify the GOP. They have to unify around him. It is difficult because the GOPe wants to stop Trump from getting the nomination. They don't agree with his positions on immigration and trade.
If Kasich would exit the race, the gap would shrink and the race would begin to look more and more like '76. The best thing Trump has going for him right now -- until he can learn to control his mouth and his Twitter feed -- is having Kasich in the race.
Kasich is hurting Trump in places like the Northeast and the Midwest and in CA and the Northwest. If it is between just Trump and Cruz in those places, Trump wins easily. So-called moderate Reps support Trump over Cruz. It will be interesting to see if Trump can get over 50% in NY. Cruz failed to get 50% in Texas and Kasich failed to get 50% in Ohio.
Your crystal ball is no better than anyone else's. Given that fact, you don't mind if we allow the process to play out, do you? Again, if Trump is so much more preferred than Cruz, he will show us in the remaining primaries and win this without question. If he can't then he has no one to blame but himself. I don't think the party picks the fresh face to run as it will kill the candidates down the ticket and in local and state races as well. The party may be run by a bunch of dirtbags, but they won't allow the party to go Kamikaze.
The GOP is not called the Stupid Party for nothing. They would rather lose an election than outsider to win. The case in the VA governor's race was a perfect example. Ken Cuccinelli was torpedoed by his own party.
It does make for a good argument to demonize Trump's competition though..."get out for the good of the country" etc.. That very same thing was told to Reagan in '76 but he didn't listen. I'm glad he didn't because he never would have been able to make that speech that put everyone on notice about his plans in '80.
It is up to Trump's competition to do what is best for the party and the people. They won't get out because they want to sabotage the process at the behest of the GOPe. If someone other than Trump is the nominee, the GOP will go down to defeat in 2016. The Trump voters will exit the process in a heartbeat.
Given the rapidly changing demographics of the country fueled by mass immigration and minority birthrates, the Dems are on the cusp of becoming the permanent majority party, if they are not already. The Reps have lost the popular vote in 5 out of the last 6 elections. It is a dying party that needs to stop doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. Trump brings populism and nationalism, something not seen a GOP candidate for a long time. Jeff Sessions sees it and so do I.
Not to mention getting paid in the senate for not working for a year and a half. Cruz loves this gig.
That would be great. Donald trump Jr. Would hand Cruz a well earned loss in the senate.
So other than calling names like Trumpy where specifically is Eno wrong? his reasoning seems perfectly sound.
There wont be riots for Trumpy. WHITE PEOPLE DONT RIOT.... They never have and never will.<<
Really?
You must be in your 40’s, or less.
Yours was an interesting link. Thank-you for it. In a nutshell, one must be a native.
Cruz father didn’t become a citizen until 4-5 years ago from what I understand. Cruz wasn’t born here, and lived in Canada during his early years. He himself didn’t become a citizen until around a year and a half ago. According to the rules on the linked site, he doesn’t qualify as a native.
It’s also my understanding that the ‘rats intend to challenge his right to hold the office. Looks like sealed records is the way to go says Obama.
I really don’t think that he, or anybody else, should be allowed to do that. It does go against the spirit of the law as well as the letter of the law.
Be that as it may be, If I were in second place, I wouldn’t drop out either because that puts Kasich in a position to take the nomination as Cruz’s delegates would be distributed somewhere...presumably between Trump and Kasich.
There are spare delegates flying around so I can understand Cruz wanting to grab some of those.
The real problem is, he doesn’t belong there in the first place which is a separate issue.
Something else I forgot to mention...It’s interesting how the FBI can break into private, locked phones to gain info about possible legal violations, but they can’t do that with records to uphold the constitution?
Legal beagles, how can this be?
No, making Trump follow the Ruuuules is not “dirty tricks”.
Real people are used only to cull the candidates, not elect one of them, in cases like this cycle.
What I am saying to you is that the RUUUULES are the dirty tricks. The tricks do the nominating. Voters across the nation seem to only cull the field.
The Rules rule outcomes.
When the RULES Committees, at both the states level and the national RNC level, are stacked unevenly in order to stop one candidate, that is not appreciated by a voting public who have overwhelmingly named their frontrunner, and he continues to smoke the field in the polls for the popular vote going forward.
The clash is between these two parties:
The Frontrunner VS The Anti-Voters, Anti-TRUMP Establishment
It is not TRUMP they are messing around, it’s the Voters in the primary.
I agree with you on Rule 40. It is just that according to Reince Priebus, the Rules Committee will fix the rules prior to the Convention. The Rules can be changed during the Convention, and in the eventuality of a Third Ballot, I’m not sure there are even any rules left.
For the guy to win the nomination who is in Second Place, or Third Place, or in no place at all, is going to cause a “riot” psychologically.
The people don’t get that kind of an outcome, after standing in state primary lines for blocks and blocks. You know what I mean?
Did the math didja?
More voters in the primaries voted for someone other that Trump!!!
<< More voters in the primaries voted for someone other that Trump!!! >>
LOL!
D E S P E R A T E, much?
TRUMP is the frontrunner for a reason. It certainly isn’t because “more voters in the primaries voted for someone other than Trump”.
LOL!
The voters do not “elect” delegates. Only in the mind of the Cruz flock of geese would such a silly statement be deemed to hold water.
Actually, in some states they do. For example, in PA the delegates in each congressional district are on the ballot, and are elected by the voters.
Dear Rita not OK,
Where do you think Delegates come from?
Here in Colorado, that is EXACTLY what happens during Caucus.
Each Precinct ELECTS Delegates to the next Higher Assembly.
Then, during Congressional District Assemblies and the State Assembly, those Delegate elect the Delegates for the National Convention.
I’m one of those, and nobody bought and paid for me, and I’m a pledged Cruz Delegate, whether the State or National Party requires it.
Exactly.
Cruz knows all about runoff elections. In the 2012 GOP Texas Senate primary, Cruz came in second with 34.2% behind David Dewhurst (44.6%). No candidate having achieved a majority, a runoff was held. Cruz came in first with 56.8% to Dewhurst's 43.2%. Cruz won the general 58.6% to 40.5%.
You and I both know that delegates are named by a room full of individuals.
We both know that it is only Donald Trump, and not your delegates, who is out there winning in the free election that occurs in whole states, in a popular vote of the people. It is called the voice of the people, pardner.
It is known as a plurality of votes until the end. The peoples vote is then negated or upheld by a few delegates.
Cruz stuffing those delegate positions with the able assistance of the Republican machine unfriendly to the people’s choice, the frontrunner TRUMP, is no replacement for the democracy of the primary voters.
The primary voters are getting ready to speak again in the rust belt. For Donald Trump.
That is what I am talking about, not blah blah of the insiders naming a few delegates in a smokey back room.
Primary Voter = one man, one vote.
Convention Delegate Voter = one man, four or more votes.
Get the picture.
You pretend a machine that simply does not exist.
