I also worked in a chestnut or hard just before that. If you have ever collected chestnuts off the ground you know how much fun that is.
Both these were done when I was around 40.
I also worked on a roof with illegal aliens once as well when I was 39.
I did not want to do it but I needed to pay my bills. I got nothing from the government to help me. As a matter of fact they took $1800 from me by claiming my income twice for the same year.
The point is till people realize that they are their way out of poverty and not the government they will be stuck in poverty to be used by the government for their whims.
Flipping burgers at micky d’s and working at Walmart should be looked upon as respectable jobs because they contribute to society as a whole. Sure they suck but they are just temporary jobs. People have lost sight of the fact that someone working is better than someone stealing so e one elses labor.
People on food stamps who are able to work and have no one that they support should be working period.
+1
All work is noble, IMO.
I’ve worked crappy jobs as well, but I certainly wouldn’t have attempted to buy a home or have a family by doing so. People have figured out that working some of the McJobs will actually get them more money through the Earned Income Credit (a welfare measure slipped into the tax code to - unsuccessfully for the most part - that allows them to get back more than they paid in federal income taxes).
I agree that anyone working and still getting public assistance in some form or other is far better than just paying them to sit home, get high, and breed.
