Time to get over it. Cruz's campaign was just repeating what CNN was speculating. I was on CNN while they were saying he must be finished. No one goes home for clothes in a campaign. Send them to the laundry or buy new ones. CNN had a talking head panel discussing just this subject right before Cruz's peeps said anything. Carson was on the loser list already before Iowa. If Cruz's people did anything wrong it was to say Carson quit. They started out saying "It looks like Carson quit", but later said he quit before any conformation. Frankly, it did look like he quit, but they should have not said he quit till he said he quit. Either way, It wouldn't have helped Trump. Carson voters would NEVER have gone to Trump or they already would be with Trump. Now Carson is with Trump because he blames Cruz, but he hates Trump. I wouldn't support anyone that accused me of being a liar and pedophile as Trump did. I think Carson is looking for some gubmint job if Trump wins.
Don’t worry about these Cruz boogers. They can’t see the forest for the trees. They jump and bash anyone who dares to point a finger at their god - Ted Cruz. Make no mistake about it - they worship him - they just can’t admit it yet. Otherwise, they wouldn’t attack everything that comes out about him. Instead, they dismiss the messenger which deflects from the message they don’t want to hear. They can’t handle the truth because their guy is a liar, and they have believed his lies so long, they lost all discernment.
Regardless of who you’re stumping for, FR should always be on the lookout for questionable “articles” from questionable sources and highlight it.

Cruz stole those votes, he did it deliberately. He’d been saying for weeks that if Carson dropped out, those votes would come to him. He just expedited the process.

The contention is not that Carson’s votes would have gone to Trump. The contention is that they would have stayed with Carson.
Take away 17,000 (your 9% figure) from Cruz and leave them with Carson, while leaving Trump’s numbers alone, and Trump would have won the IOWA caucus with 45K, Rubio in 2nd with 43K, and Cruz and Carson tied for 3rd with 34K.
