I got to meet Texas Sen. Ted Cruz last week in New York City.
Normally after eyeballing a public figure up close, you report back to friends that, hes a lot different in person shorter or taller, friendlier or unfriendlier, aloof or really down-to earth.
Not so with Cruz.
That impressed me.
Besides being, OK, slightly smaller and significantly better looking in person than on TV, the Ted Cruz I saw and briefly spoke with at an off-the-record sit down at my old political club in Manhattan was the exact same one Ive been watching in action for the past several years. He was sincere, unwavering, driven and humorless, with that man-on-a-mission feel we saw in the primary debates.
Cruz clearly isnt a New York politician. He demeanor screams, Bible Belt (hes the son of a baptist minister) and hes far too smooth to be a Northeast politician. New Yorkers have an aversion to slicksters, and Cruz undeniably lends himself to that description. Hes also more conservative than most Republicans in these parts, not necessarily in what he believes, but in what he chooses to emphasize. There are plenty of socially conservative Republicans in New York, but they rarely lead with it.
Cruz goes there.
The biggest knock on Cruz to most Americans is that he was willing to shut down the federal government over the debt limit a couple of years back. A lot of very smart people called that reckless, but in fairness to Cruz, so is adding hundreds of billions of dollars in red ink to our already suicidal $19 trillion debt load. It was a bit of brinksmanship I personally didnt mind....

Cruz is GoPe
No he’s not. Not even close. Silly to post such nonsense.
Full blown GoPe with Bush dynasty backing. He’s simply now serving his masters to get to convention to dump Trump and his millions of voters, leading to Hillary Presidency. But GoPe saved.
Trump vs Cruz head-to-head actual primary election results for the 3 purple states which are must wins, real votes not opinion polls.
|Trump v Cruz - Trump v Cruz Margin -|
Ohio ............. 700,464 - 259,694 ...... 35.87% - 13.30% ..... +440,770 Trump
Florida ........ 1,079,741 - 404,804 ..... 45.72% - 17.14% ..... +647,937 Trump
Virginia ......... 355,961 - 173,191 ..... 34.73% - 16.90% ...... +182720 Trump
The facts say, Cruz cant win FL,OH, or VA. He has to win all of them; therefore a vote for Cruz is a vote for Hillary.
You paint with a broad brush.
All Republicans are GOPe. But we are all not in charge.
All men are sinners. Mortal sinners. Nonredeemable. Responsible for Jesus being crucified on the cross for our sins.
Everyone fits into a group. We are individuals and different.
Cruz is a conservative and stands for smaller government and individual freedom.
Let’s stand with a True Republican that believes in smaller government and stop slinging barbs. Why do we need to tear down each other with personal barbs. Difference in issues and policy - that’s fine. But personal zingers does not help our cause to find good leaders.
Trump is a liberal and stands for bigger government - health and education.
And millions already have.
LOL. That made me laugh.
“So only billionaires should be able to run for president? Good news for Mike Bloomberg and Bill Gates!”
Your Cruzlim Botterhood pogo stick of logic is bent.
It is a corrupt system. You take a campaign contribution, you are obligated to the person that made the contribution.
Personally I prefer publicly funded elections but until then I will take an honest billionaire over a candidate that says I must do the bidding of my campaign contributors even if it is not in the best interest of the country.
What a dumb ass thing to say. Shows what an insecure jerk Bill is really.
Good education on the ways of government.
Arm in arm with Neil Bush, we lead the charge!
Like Reagan and Lincoln?
Reagan had a Bush as a running mate.
I think Cruz is leading the GOP rebellion against the voters.
He just acts like it, and talks like it, and has their members on his team, and is endorsed by them, and has one of them fight his widdle battle for him. But, no he's not even close to Rubio, Bush, Fiorina, and on and on. Nice try.
And I’m sure you think that TRUMP the guy who donated money to Hillary Clinton and other Democrat politicians lavished praise on them all, who has come out in support of gun-control abortion and government healthcare is not an outsider.
Cruz sure knows how to use Dem talking points like the GOPe.
What we really need is someone with a long history of bribing politicians like Trump and if you don’t think Trump will start accepting larger sums of money in the general you’re crazy
Cuz the chicks...
Yeah trump calling his opponents wife ugly and spewing juvenile insults and tweets nonstop is so funny what a great sense of humor that’s probably why is unfavorables are approaching 100%
