The liability for any company producing a self driving car will be astronomical. I don’t see it happening. Too many fault paths.

It’ll never get drunk or sick or have a bad day, though. I could see UL certifications on robo-chauffeurs.

Self driving cars and trucks have already racked up over a million miles in real world tests. Google alone has that much. Virtually every big high tech firm, car company and engineering school is heavily invested in this. Even Uber is a major investor. Long haul trucking firms are likely to be the first adopters.
