A maintenance worker found explosives training materials on a Loudoun County public school bus Wednesday.
Authorities quickly determined the explosives material was left there after training last week conducted by a federal agency.
The explosive training material was in a benign state and could not be activated through normal operation of the bus, Loudoun school officials said in a note emailed to parents.
During the training exercise, the bus was parked at Briar Woods High School. It was placed back in service Monday and Tuesday to carry students back and forth from Rock Ridge High School, and Buffalo Trail and Pinebrook elementary schools.
This evening, [school] officials are attempting to contact parents of students who might have ridden the bus while the training material was on board, school officials said.
Loudoun County Public Schools Safety and Security Office is in communication with the Sheriffs Office and federal officials regarding this matter, the note said.
Authorities did not identify which federal agency was involved or exactly what the explosives material was.
Wow, next thing u know they’ll be selling assault weapons to Narco-terrorists.
what federal agency is placing explosives on a real school bus used by real kids?
Imagine if a private company did that! Feds, no biggie!
Most explosives training materials are inert. Now if they were live, that is really serious.
Let’s wait a few days until all the information is gathered and released.
I’m more worried about when DC gets hit by a subway bomber, at the Verizon Center, a baseball game, or concert on the Mall.
Probably run by a son of 0buttbongo..
Good point
The quote implies that there was just no blasting cap or detcord nearby. It sounds like it was real material, and they tried to gloss it over.
I think it’s a biggie. Any sane person would know not to allow the feds or anyone for that matter to put bombs on school buses for any reason.
Recently during a bomb threat in ashburn. Students were evacuated and put on school buses, where they found the fed placed bomb.
That was bright.
it says not dangerous with normal operation of the bus. Which means it wasn’t tied into the ignition or speed of the bus. It was underneath is implied. Detonators could have been remote but it was real material.
Real explosives would have to be transported in a special vehicle.

Yeah, well my kids go to these schools. This is pretty insane.
why do you send your son to the government school?
It’s free? Lots of things are free that are not good!
homeschooling not an option?
Priorities....
I would hope the “training material” was inert. Then again, if they were going to exercise dogs or try out their latest electronic sniffer gadget... They might have had “representative levels” of actual explosives on board in realistic packaging.
Ping
Ha you got that reference.
My son has till June to graduate and so for the next couple months I was planning for him to be there. I pulled my younger daughter out of school to home school just recently, but for different reasons then feds leaving bombs on buses. But that story beats anything I did pull her out for.
