John 8: 1-11
“Jesus went unto the mount of Olives. And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them. And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou? This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.”
Yes, this much I am aware of.
At the same time, the government does not wield the sword for nothing.
There are gray areas and areas in which mercy may be shown. But in general, the law must be upheld. Just because a thief may be repentant does not mean that he should not face the consequences of his theft. And if a thief becomes a Christian, he ought to do so willingly, but at the same time, those around him show forgiveness and welcome him back.
I think I get what you’re ultimately saying, but mostly I wasn’t asking for a theological debate; I just wanted to challenge the other gentleman who was twisting himself in knots because he hates Trump THAT much.

And a rock came whizzing through the air from the midst of the crowd, and clonked the girl square on the nose.
"Mommmmmm! Cut that out!"
I can get away with that joke, because I'm Catholic.
The difference is, committing adultery is not the same as an abortion, tho' one often leads to the other.
In fact, the current demand for abortion, is because our culture has accepted two lies:
1) Fornication is 'fun' and not sin, and it's about time the women had the same right to it as men have always had.
2) If anything goes wrong in any way, or there are any unpleasant aftereffects whatsoever from the sex, it's always the man's fault, because Women Are Naturally Sinless.TM
Most men put up with this, because they have been taught that supplicating to women is the only way they're ever going to land a woman.
