You’re right.. this is 2016 and things are jacked around even more seriously then they were back then.

Let’s break down differences
1) Trump does not have all the conservative base on board. Just reading this site proves that. Trumpers have all stated he’ll make that up with Democrats...good luck
2) Carter was viewed as weak and incompetent. BHO has a 53% JAR.
3) No gas lines, inflation lower, the economy is doing ok, not great but better than it was in 1980, no Iranian Hostage crisis.
4) Reagan didn’t actively damage himself in the primary. Trump is and it’s doubtful after all he’s done if he can get the total of the GOP base on board. Trump’s unfavorables are not only higher than hers but higher than any other candidate running since that measure was being polled
5) Hillary is known by huge majorities to be crooked. So Trump won’t be able to make much hay out of that since he donated to the Clinton Foundation. His supporters think he will by him stated he had to to do business but again....good luck
6) The 1980 electorate is alot different than today’s. Fewer white voters. California, an easy reach for the GOP in 1980, has become almost off limits.
Now, November is a long ways off and anything can happen. But Trumpers need to stop living in a fantasy world were a 50 state landslide awaits and the voters love Trump and admit their candidate has serious, serious problems and if the election was held today, Hillary would win
Therein lies the fallacy in your theory.
The election is still 7 months off.. 7 MONTHS is a lifetime in politics.
Hillary will NOT be elected once the results of the FBI investigation are divulged.
Even if she's NOT indicted she will be so damaged as to be unelectable.
She'll get the obligatory 25% to 35% of die-hard Dems voting for her and that's it.
By November I believe Trump will have solidified the electorate just as Reagan was able to do.
I know you do NOT want to accept that fact but he will.
Staying on top with your base and expanding it is something Trump has experience in. He had 12 years of a successful TV show with top ratings on Network Television. I can tell you directly.. that's is NOT an easy accomplishment. You must keep the public coming back to stay atop the ratings and he achieved that. In fact they offered him renewal for a 13th year which he turned down to run for President.
If he DIDN'T know what he was doing he would have self destructed long ago. You're right, this is a different age, and Trump is running as a figure who, on behalf of the people, wants to tear the establishment apart and dismantle it. In today's world THAT is a very popular position. It's Trump's core strength because he's LEADING a CULTURAL revolution.. NOT a political one. My point in saying all this: You're trying to prove that "you're right" in terms of what's going to occur. I say you're wrong because of what I know and what my intuition tells me.
No need for further discussion. I'll vote my conscience and you vote yours. We'll see how it turns out.
If I'm correct in my assessment, as I believe I will be, I promise NOT to be an "I told you so" idiot.
