Brent Bozell: Dumping Tabloid Trash on Ted Cruz
TownHall ^ | March 30, 2016 | Brent Bozell

Posted on 03/30/2016 4:29:29 AM PDT by Zakeet

The National Enquirer's name in journalism is synonymous with factually unsupported drivel of the lowest kind. It is a sacred truth that no responsible journalist would reference the kind of garbage found in this tabloid.

But somehow it's perfectly appropriate for the same responsible journalists to report the sleaze over and over, emphasizing, of course, that the source is the awful National Enquirer.

This is what the networks have done to Sen. Ted Cruz, who the Enquirer recently claimed had affairs with five secret mistresses, including Trump's spokeswoman Katrina Pierson. The unsubstantiated smear should have never seen the light of day. Instead, it became national news. It began with ABC and NBC on Friday March 25. CBS followed on Saturday. From Friday through Monday, the networks reportedly devoted 15 minutes and 27 seconds of airtime to this character assassination campaign that's supposedly pushed by former Trump advisor Roger Stone and published by a rag that coincidentally has also endorsed The Donald.

[Snip]

Don't shoot the messenger. But when the messenger is peddling lies, blast it. It's such arrogance. The media elite act like they are blameless; but they are shameless.

They are also two-faced on another level. In October 2007, the National Enquirer began reporting that John Edwards was allegedly cheating on his cancer-stricken wife with an unnamed campaign staffer. But Edwards was a Democrat, so none of the three networks or the national newspapers touched it.

Oh yeah, PACs never coordinate with campaigns. You are simply adorable.

The intensity with which you assume something has no correlation to the truth of the matter. So, again... nice try.

Congratulations, you are an idiot. The story was pushed by the Rubio Camp. Trump being friends with the owner of NE did not start the story. Nice try though.

Congratulations, you are an idiot.

This is what I said, dumbass: "Cruz doesn’t fold because hacks supporting the orange-headed BFF of David Pecker decided to smear him."

I didn't say it came from Trump, did I? I said it came from a Trump BACKER. Now... do you deny David Pecker is a Trump advocate?

Its nothing but wishful thinking. Why should Cruz drop out when he is in second place with 464 delegates and Kasich, who is in third place has only 163 delegates? It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever

It’s called inference. Trump’s relationship with David Pecker had nothing to do with the news story or it being released. Referencing him into it is BS leftist tactic to make some sorta of tie between Trump and the article. Keep trying.

This is the same: Glenn Beck, a supporter and BFF of the cuban canadian liar, defamed a Boston Marathon victim, accusing the victim of being tied to the terrorists. He is due in court this summer.

My reference to Cruz is not relevant to the situation even though it is factual.

Ah, why are these fake conservative beggars, keeping Cruz’s zipper problem in the news?

Given the recent Hulk Hogan decision you think National Enquirer would run with a story they can’t back up? If so Ted should sue them. He won’t though.

Ha, the JE that led the Great Awakening is likely the name which stuck in my mind. So it must be the 1st one, not his son.

They don’t like Cruz because he is a creep not because he is some doctrinaire conservative.

So the two PACs just happened to transfer a half a million dollars to the competition’s PAC that was cash strapped. You are adorable in your innocence.

Oh yeah, principled conservatives are never corrupt. RIGHT!!!

It was hush money to cover his mistress’ going to the press. Keep those blinders nice and tight or some light could come in.

Not just the NE and not just 2008. Sarah and her family endured so many unfair, unsubstantiated, scurrilous personal attacks on so many fronts...... And perhaps to a lesser extent, but just as egregious, there were the attacks on Bork, Thomas, and Cain.

Now it seems to be Cruz’s turn - and from a few on Free Republic - anyone who dares to either disagree with Mr. Trump on any issue or voice anything remotely supportive about Senator Cruz - the vitriol is amazing.

You still are operating based on rumor. Not one part of it has been substantiated.

Your repeated use of the word “adorable” is ... weird. Not your kind o’ guy here, sport.

Yep. The lust with which the trumpettes are jumping on these unfounded rumors is rather bizarre.

Attacking the messenger from a position of seniority? Well, aside from Texans and operatives, your base has gone. Yep, looks like Cruz has alienated most the people right here. The FR daily Caucus has his support under 15% right now. The el Cubano de Canada has basically won only Wichita and Texas, that’s all folks.

Cruz would have had zero chance if not for shaming voting/ballots and SECRET counting systems. He specializes in very overly-representative delegate states that eventually become the lowest electoral college vote states. None help in the GE, but Texas. He holds marginal wins, no major help for the REAL election (with the exception of Texas).

Cruz’s 8 states vote totals (380K) is less than the population of WICHITA for crying out loud. He had the worst showing in Texas in 50 years. And if he didn’t have his staff of profile schemers sending out a posse to locate favorable voters he’d be long gone. And if Ted wasn’t from Texas, he’d have <5% of the vote and he’d be long, long gone. Yep, God barely blesses Texas for Ted and he’s sittin’ on most of the Texas delegation.

What happened to all that ‘armor of God?’ There is no reason why an ‘evangelical Christian’ wouldn’t have won The South, but Cruz got shut out. Southerners see through his overly rehearsed pious demeanor. And if he can’t win Florida, Ohio, & Virginia and the South, there’s no path to victory.

All Cruz can do is cajole, bribe, deceive & coerce his way to Cleveland. Unless he’s planning on some major league cheating (computerized vote reversals) he can not win. And if he’s succeeds in doing this, you can be guaranteed that the GOPe will back-stab Cheatin’ Teddy at the 2nd ballot.

Read the 57 delegation rules: some delegates are pledged through to the winner to the 2nd or 3rd round. And some delegations can DQ Cruz since we’ve never had a foreign born as a president. el Cubano de Canadian demonstrates how little he really regards our Constitution by even running.

Tricky Teddy = Dirty Teddy = Lyin’ Teddy = Cheatin’ Teddy

I just think that your innocence is refreshing. Most cheaters and especially lawyers try to hide things. Why do you suppose he is not being completely transparent about this issue.

You do realize you are voting for George T Bush III.
