Three years ago, on the eve of Obamacares implementation, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) projected that President Obama's centerpiece legislation would result in an average of 201 million people having private health insurance in any given month of 2016. Now that 2016 is here, the CBO says that just 177 million people, on average, will have private health insurance in any given month of this yeara shortfall of 24 million people.
Indeed, based on the CBO's own numbers, it seems possible that Obamacare has actually reduced the number of people with private health insurance. In 2013, the CBO projected that, without Obamacare, 186 million people would be covered by private health insurance in 2016160 million on employer-based plans, 26 million on individually purchased plans. The CBO now says that, with Obamacare, 177 million people will be covered by private health insurance in 2016155 million on employer-based plans, 12 million on plans bought through Obamacare's government-run exchanges, and 9 million on other individually purchased plans (plus a rounding error of 1 million).
In other words, it would appear that a net 9 million people have lost their private health plans, thanks to Obamacarewith a net 5 million people having lost employer-based plans and a net 4 million people having lost individually purchased plans.
None of this is to say that fewer people have "coverage" under Obamacareit's just not private coverage. In 2013, the CBO projected that 34 million people would be on Medicaid or CHIP (the Children's Health Insurance Program) in 2016. The CBO now says that 68 million people will be on Medicaid or CHIP in 2016double its earlier estimate. It turns out that Obamacare is pretty much a giant Medicaid expansion.

The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Where’s Don Adams (Maxwell Smart) ?
“Missed it by that much” !!
You mean an unaccomplished idiot is once again wrong about something?
Who could have guessed?
Would you believe.....
Democrats are succeeding in wiping out what was once a great country.
It seems like we have an entire congress of Maxwell Smarts’s.
And a few more running the RNC.
So close.
So ... so ... sooooooooo close.
24 mil. short? a mere rounding error and entirely unexpected.
In other words, substitute the computer term "GIGO" (Garbage in Garbage Out!). The CBO is ALWAYS a whipping boy but..., they HAVE TO REPORT A RESULT BASED UPON THEIR "INPUT DATA"(Assumptions Provided)! And we all know the value of Assumptions!
Single payer was the goal. Obamacare was the best that could be pushed through the Democrat congress by Pelosi/Reid. They were quite open from the start that they wanted to eventually get 100% of us on Medicaid.
Some Conservatives were so focused on:
.....You have to pass it to see what is in it...
that they didnt hear what Pelosi/Reid were telling the single payer fans.
Long range Obamcare was never about subsidies to private insurance companies and providers. That is why nobody is concerned about them going belly up. They were always expendable short term steps.
Why do you think 20 Republican governors won’t take the FREE money to expand Medicaid?
CBO has NEVER been correct about ANYTHING!
Isn’’t that around the same number the libs claimed had no insurance?
And Obamacare was gonna fix that, AND save every family $2500/ yr to boot?
Juuuust a bit outside!
bkmk
Time to increase premiums again. To cover their losses.
F U B O!
F U CONGRESS!
