Who the heck is Charlie Sykes?
And why do we care?
He hates Trump.
Desperation requires that anyone they can find who hates Trump be given as much exposure as possible.
Charlie Sykes is a very effective, if occasionally flawed, talk show host from 8:30 AM- Noon M-F on WTMJ AM 620 in Milwaukee. My only objection to him and it was serious is that he supported Moral Monster Mitt Romney in the general election in 2012 and predictably it made no difference.
Sykes did a masterful job with another WTMJ talk show host, Jeff Wagner, in quarterbacking on daily radio what seemed impossible at the time: a rolling series of recalls of corrupt Demonrat Milwaukee County Board members for enacting for themselves six figure annual pensions just for serving part time as county part-time legislators in addition to any other pensions that they might receive in other capacities as county employees.
Recall petitions were filed one district at a time in order of vulnerability until a majority were recalled and replaced by Republicans, including a then obscure state representative named Scott Walker who then became the first Republican Milwaukee County Board Chairman in living memory and proceeded to take a machete to the lard in the county budget. Walker was re-elected by the voters and served until, prodded by Charlie Sykes and other talk show hosts, the Wisconsin voters elected Walker governor with Republican control of the state house and senate, and staved off a union-led recall election, stopped the attempt by special election to elect a Madison, Wisconsin, lunatic leftist woman to the state supreme court to get that court to thwart Walker, and then re-elected Walker.
Along the way, Walker and his legislature (in the historically uberprogressive state of Wisconsin) enacted Right to Work legislation to de-fund public employee unions (other than police and fire) and then for private sector workers as well, enacted as much pro-life legislation as could survive court challenges, caused reduction of state and county and municipal expenditures and taxation, concealed carry legislation (Wisconsin had been one of only two holdout states), business deregulation, removal of tenure for state university professors and a general conservative wish list that even Ronaldus Maximus would not have dared to try.
You did not know most of that nor did you care to know and that is why Scott Walker, ever realistic, was first to drop out of the POTUS race and why we are stuck with the current choice of two embarrassing candidacies: Trump and Cruz.
That is what Charlie Sykes does and that is who he is and that is why you should care. Even if you did not arrive here until Trump was riding high.
