As the Republican presidential primary shifts its focus to Wisconsin, Gov. Scott Walker is poised to re-enter the national spotlight, having suggested this week that he will soon offer his endorsement.
Walker said he would weigh in "after Easter, when it would have the maximum impact," and hinted strongly that he favors Sen. Ted Cruz, who "is the only one who's got a chance other than Donald Trump to win the nomination."
"Probably in the next week or so we'll, one, make a decision whether we're going to endorse or not; then, secondly, specifically who were going to get behind," Walker told radio host Charlie Sykes.
After a recent gathering in New York where Walker thanked some of his former presidential campaign donors, one attendee left with the impression that Walker intends to endorse early this week.
Such an endorsement would mark the two-term governor's most high-profile moment since he ended his own presidential campaign last year amid low polling and fundraising woes. The fresh attention would not be unwanted: Indeed, he has been slowly but deliberately rebuilding his national brand since that failed spin on the national stage, with a noticeable uptick in networking, speeches and public appearances over the past few months.
In November, Walker was elected vice chairman of the Republican Governors Association, a role for which he has begun to travel more frequently and connect with party donors and officials.
Last month, he snagged a speaking slot at CPAC, the widely watched annual conservative gathering in the Washington, D.C., area. Walker used the platform to strike a contrast between the country's GOP governors, such as himself, and the presidential campaign.

Rising, eh? Maybe he’ll decide to run for president.
Wisconsin Governor may endorse a candidate for President this week.
FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.
The loser is about to endorse
I just hope he can get reelected for governor.
Only a day after being announced as an aide to Gov. Scott Walkers political operation, Liz Mair told The Associated Press on Tuesday that she was resigning. Mair took considerable heat for her frank Twitter criticism of Iowas early role in the presidential nomination process.
“I coulda been a contendah,
I coulda been somebody...”
I hear that both Trump and Cruz are furiously negotiating with Walker to endorse their opponent and not them. The price is being driven high.
Trump/Walker could be a good ticket. I’d hate to see a good man like Walker endorse Cruz. We will have to wait and see.
once Wisconsin is over then the old media will destroy cruz. (multiple mistresses etc.)
I feel so bad for the mailman's son.
He must think he’s the head cheese..
Duh! We know Mitt Walker isn’t going endorse Trump.
A nice thought...but walker is in wike fwint with weince and wyin’
Walker hates Trump. #never Trump is more like it. He is GOPe like Ryan and Preibus. His Cruz endorsement will be early this week.
I forgot.....Wisconsin. Ugh!
Considering Ryan and Priebus are buddies with Cruz, I expect him to endorse cheaTed. The establishment will issue Walker’s orders.
I like him.
