Donald Trump Blames Ted Cruz for Spat Leading up to National Enquirer Report
ABC News ^ | 3/27/2016 | Nicki Rossoll

Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump blamed rival Ted Cruz for starting a spat leading up to a report in the National Enquirer claiming "political operatives" are looking into rumors that the Texas senator had multiple marital infidelities.

Trump again denied he or his campaign had anything to do with the National Enquirer report. Cruz on Friday had blamed the report on Trump and his "henchmen" while forcefully denying the report.

"I had nothing to do with it. The campaign had absolutely nothing to do with it," Trump told ABC's Jonathan Karl on "This Week" Sunday. "I have over control over the National Enquirer."

For Bubba, IF he had any real faith, he’d have sought a divorce and allowed himself the ability to do what he did, with at least a clearer conscience.

Bill Clinton and conscience in the same sentence is totally unrealistic.

It was the GOPe and Marco Rubio not Trump, Marco’s hashtag.

GQ sales department confirmed Jeff Roe ordered the ad (Melania Trump)

Trump innocent he just defended his wife.

The Washington Post reports that a Ted Cruz Super-PAC, Keep the Promise I, sent a Carly Fiorina Super-Pac, Carly for America “CfA,” US$500,000.

That distribution from one candidate’s Super-PAC to another, raised the eyebrows of the Federal Election Commission who inquired about the rather unusual transaction.

It is being speculated on social media that Keep the Promise I made the donation to Fiorina’s Super-PAC to keep the alleged affair quiet.

This 'she said-he said' is more than tiresome, it is leading to a Clinton victory....time for these two front runners, Trump and Cruz to bury the hatchet, come together to stop the ruling class from derailing a Republican win in November, '16....it is the only way to stop this double-time march towards Socialism/Communism...it's clearly in their hands to lead the way back to a sound economy and LAW lead by our Constitution.

Bear in mind Hillary has placed herself above the LAW and Sanders could win the whole shebang if the squabbling doesn't stop.....A Trump-Cruz team is the only answer to the scheming GOPe and Clinton camp who want to keep the status quo...

This whole campaign has descended into nothing more than two bratty 3d grade girls starting rumors about each other and then having a fight at the bike rack during recess.... or worse, getting their boy friends to fight each other,

First off, the sleazy PAC that has decided to support Ted started this whole tawdry course.

Secondly the press has furthered incited with what at this point are nothing more than allegations fueled by rumors.

Ted hits back and accuses Trump as the source of these rumors, with absolutely zero evidence to support his claims.

Yet somehow you lay blame on both candidates? If any candidate deserves the lion's share of criticism it is Cruz. He was slow in denouncing the PAC, and when he finally did denounce them it wasn't really a very strong denunciation.

In retaliation for the PAC ad, Trump tweeted that he would spill the beans on Ted's wife. Somehow that supposedly makes this sexpose now his fault. Though the sexpose certainly is not spilling the beans on his wife, so these are not the beans Trump was referring to at all.

Supposedly this story was being investigated by several news organizations, not just the National Enquirer. If true and they had the evidence supporting the claims, then one has to wonder why they were holding back from releasing their stories, when usually just the claims are enough for them. My only guess was they were waiting to use it at the most opportune time, such as late into the general election.

No this is exactly the kind of thing that happens in most elections. Perhaps you're just too young to know any better.

BTW, your tagline is a bit tawdry itself, based on rumors that have not been substantiated even though the rumors are accepted as the truth by a vast majority, which includes me amongst them.

“I’m a Trump supporter, but were you proud of him when he implied, on national television, that no one should vote for Carley Fiorina because she was ugly?”

“implied, on national television....”

You talk about getting something upside down and backwards.

That statement about Fiorina by Trump was made off the record in private to a reporter.

Go jump on the reporter.

Yet another of the Cruz camp’s shared blame arguments designed to tarnish Trump with the actions of others. Remember the Chicago rally. Trump has a history with some blameworthy chapters - most of which he seems to have accepted blame. Blame shifting seems to be SOP for the Cruz campaign and its supporters. However, I concede that it is SOP for almost all career politicians. So the Cruz campaign is probably no worse than others.

Speaking of Carly, why is this the first time we have ever heard of one Pac for Cruz giving Carly $500,000 ? looks like hush money since one of the identified women works for Carly, and thereafter Carly endorsed Cruz.

How is this a coincidence ?

There was also rumor that she also rode other horses too.
Maybe so but she's not pretending to be a holier than thou principled conservative running for President.

“I’m a Trump supporter,”

BUT reading back thru the posts you have made since joining you defend Cruz every time and are always questioning Trump?

I’m not buying your statement that you are a Trump supporter or your posts would reflect that.

What are you really trying to do on this forum?

Why would they do that to their guy? For months all i have heard is cruz is the establishment.. that they where using him to stop trump. By this blowing up now.. it does not advance the stop trump movement. This helps trump.

The only question is.. did trump know or was it just a supporter advancing his cause.

The fact that she is with him every minute on the campaign trail says one of two things - she is running also (ala Hillary) or she doesn’t trust him out of her sight.

That is the accusation that he had sex with up to 8 women other than his wife.

And you can save up to 15% on your car insurance...

Just how the words "up to" work in that sentence.

The internet has become the new 'backyard fence'--only the gossip goes farther and faster than anyone in those days ever imagined.

If Ted is innocent, he should go on every news show for the next week and clear the air and this will all be forgotten. Put an end to it once and for all.

Should he take Heidi with him to stand by her man?

Hey it worked for the Clintons, but then they had a complicit press that dropped the scandal like a not potato. Not sure that would suffice as far as the Cruzes are concerned. The press would either drop it for now and bring it up at a later more crucial date if Ted were the nominee, or carry on with it.

Problem is a serious one for Ted, because how does one prove their innocence on an allegation such as this? Simply denying it will convince some while others will remain skeptical.

A more effective course of action is to bring suit against the National Enquirer. That would carry more weight than simply denying it until blue in the face. Because if he is willing to take it to court then the assumption would weigh heavily in his favor of his innocence.

The sister-in-law who supposedly has confirmed the allegation with regards to her sister-in-law, Amanda Carpenter, seems that going to court may not be the best course of action to take either.

So perhaps that is his only course of action, to keep denying the story, albeit an ineffective one.
