Italys Prime Minister Matteo Renzi called on Tuesday for a European pact for freedom and security following the attacks in Brussels claimed by the ISIS group that killed around 35 people.
Today they hit Belgium, but they also hit the capital of the European Union, Renzi said in a speech, vowing that it will take months, perhaps years, but we will beat them. [ ]
Europe must go all the way this time. We must invest in a common security and defense structure, he said, adding that the debate over defense integration has been raging since 1954, when a plan to form a European Defense Community (EDC) with a pan-Europe military fell through.

Only one thing to do, but I doubt that they have the stomach for it.
Great one big lousy army instead of a bunch of small lousy armies :)
I guess NATO, also headquartered in Brussels, won’t fill the bill, probably because it is led by US Generals. Ever since the formation of EU, the Europeans have declined to fund NATO. They (EU) are even forming their own military forces.
Say good bye to NATO. Trump was right. Defund NATO.
I doubt it will be a very popular suggestion. First, the governments involved seem preoccupied with allowing the invaders free access to their territory, laws, and citizens, and second, those citizens don’t appear to be doing much in the way of fighting back. Even if the latter is not the case any longer, the former will still keep any nascent military from being used for actual self-defense. I hope I’m wrong, but that’s the way to bet.
I think each country should protect its own border. Giving more power to the EU is a stupid idea. Look what they have done with the power it already has. And it’s the EU bureaucrats that have been pushing and continue to push for open borders.
Reclaim your sovereignty and take care of business.
The Schengen Agreement is almost 31 years old now. Remarkable it’s lasted this long.
Hey all you big socialist nations. When we elect President Trump, we are going to start charging you for our protective services !
But,but...whom will this military be deployed against? The left sees militant Islamists as potential revolutionaries, useful as a tool in fighting capitalism (what is left of it). In addition, the Islamists are most comfortably unconflicted in their hatred for Israel and the US. Most reassuring (from the left’s point of view).
You can’t use the military against THEM.
True! NATO is not useful for this type of war. Did NATO prevent Paris or Belgium? Is NATO responding, overtly or covertly? Will NATO prevent more terror attacks?
The last thing NATO accomplished was to act as a pawn of Bill Clinton in a war created to enthrall Americans with fireworks (or some might say sniper fire) to divert from certain interesting sexual exploits on TV.
Let them go at hammer and tongs, so long as we are not paying for it.
Time for them to pay thier own way
There is only one way to "beat them". It's either expel them or kill them - all of them. It is called "ethnic cleansing" and it will be either them or you being "cleansed". There really is no middle ground now. That will mean a bloody fight with likely millions of casualties. The table has already been set by decades of allowing these poisonous Mohammadan snakes into your house.
Fancy parades and solemn declarations of phony unity aren't going to do the job.
The EU rules by crisis, and Renzi, being a member of the European Consilium by virtue of being head of Italy’s government (and also a member of the Party of European Socialists) has a direct hand in the Union’s fate politically. When Renzi makes this call for a unified EU military in light of this new deliberately-caused crisis, it shows where they are pushing things.
Next step is for Britain to exit the EU and slam the door on the entire European homo-fascist nanny state!
