“Effective March 23, 2015, Ohio recognizes the concealed handgun license of any non-resident who has a valid concealed handgun license from any other state, regardless of whether Ohio has entered into a reciprocity agreement with that state.”
So those planning to attend as delegates should consider their own means of self defense.
“Nearly 20,000 support petition to allow guns at Republican National Convention.”
The petition claims that because Cleveland is one of the most dangerous cities in the world, forcing attendees to leave their weapons at home is putting everyone at risk.
“Without the right to protect themselves, those at the Quicken Loans Arena will be sitting ducks, utterly helpless against evil-doers, criminals or others who wish to threaten the American way of life.”
Something really weird got approved. For the convention, bars and restaurants in Cuyahoga and surrounding counties can get liquor licenses to serve booze until 4AM. What could go wrong?
As far as police from other departments getting involved, even with a great paycheck, they'd have to be insane to do so. If any aggressive crowd control is necessary, the risk of lawsuit and destruction of their careers is just too great.
FWIW, since were an OH thread, I'll express my thought here. Consider the floor plan of the Q, where the convention will be held. It's not a place I'd want to be if it had to be evacuated. It's also not a place where people in the seating sections with guns is something that could be easily supervised.
