I get that the media has gotten the memo that Donald Trump is the greatest threat to civilization since NBC’s “The Slap,” but the controversy surrounding the Trump v Ted Cruz wife-dissing battle has revealed a stunning bit of tunnel vision, particularly among liberals. While everyone piles on Trump for retweeting an unflattering photo comparison of Heidi Cruz and Melania Trump, they’re giving Cruz and his SuperPAC a complete pass for what amounts to a political sexual assault on Melania Trump. Both attacks were ugly; I would submit that the explicitly sexual nature of the attack on Mrs. Trump is worse, but for the sake of argument, let’s call them even.
Consider this introduction to the flap by Chris Hayes on Thursday night’s All In, in which he takes great pains to note that the PAC that attacked Melania Trump has “no direct connection” to Ted Cruz, then delights in Cruz’s (admittedly awesome) refusal to say he won’t support Trump if he’s the nominee:
God bless Hallie Jackson for asking that followup, but another great question would have been why didn’t Ted Cruz immediately denounce the anti-Melania ad and demand that it be taken down? As for Hayes, he and the rest of the media are giving Cruz a benefit of the doubt that he has not earned. Sure, he’s not supposed to coordinate with SuperPACs, but this is the same guy who swore his campaign had nothing to do with spreading the rumor that Ben Carson had dropped out in Iowa, only to have voicemails to the contrary surface almost immediately. At a bare minimum, Cruz bears responsibility for not immediately coming out against the ad.

For the same reason it takes 12+ hours to “respond” to the CubanMistressCrisis.
It’s all part of the full out effort to destroy Trump. The problem is that they reach the point of diminishing returns quite a while ago.
because he’s not responsible for it, that’s why
“CubanMistressCrisis”
Ok that is funny!
The PAC has nothing to do with Cruz. It is an Anti-Trump PAC and does not endorse any candidates.
End of lame story.

So Mrs. Trump peddled her wares internationally and publicly in a magazine, while Mrs. Cruz didn’t.
What was the issue again?
Trump has an opportunity to show Cruz how to take the high road and immediately denounce the National Enquirer story.
LOL.
If I publish my semi naked pics on the cover of a national magazine and brag about what a trophy I am because of it, it is pretty hard to call it a sexual assault if you all repost my pic and ridicule me.
That said, both sides have now descended into the sewer. I am sick to death of all of it.
The story is a fabrication, and it is disgusting that it is even being posted. How low can Trump get? You haven’t seem anything yet? He is a monster.
The question is why did Cruz launch it? The enquirer didn’t come up with this story in 36 hours. Cruz knew it was about to hit the stands and hit out at Melania to muddy the water and make the enquirer look like a retaliation.
But I have a strong feeling this is going to be accurate and that he is done.
I have to assume that is a rhetorical question since we all know that the establishment, and especially the media is against Trump and will do anything to stop him.
I too, was expecting at least some acknowledgement that Cruz attacked Trump's wife first, but of course there has been almost nothing. Even the parts of the media that normally might be in Trump's corner are wary, since he has attacked the media in general several times.
The first objective of the media, liberals, and GOPe is to eliminate Trump. After that, Cruz becomes their target. Cruz would lose VA, OH, FL, and a few more where republicans have to win. It’s going to be Hillary if Cruz is the nominee.
Which one?
It wasn’t Cruz’s SuperPAC.
....because it must be dump trump day here at FR
Excellent!
